Hi there, I am new to the group and I’ve inherited my uncles Speedmaster Professional. He bought the watch in March 1973 in New York but when I put the serial No in a search engine it comes up as 1974. I have all the purchase papers, clam shell box and original guarantee papers. I have found out that at some point he had the bracelet clasp changed and also the link ends and dial. I would like too put the watch back to original if possible and wanted to know where the best place is to source these items and also the correct ones. I’ve been told that the end links should be 633,s and the clasp should have the trapezoid logo but have no idea what dial to look for. Any idea what the watch would be worth in its present state and is it worth putting back to original. I have attached some photos of the watch. Thanks for any help.

Hi!

Nice watch, congrats.

Best place to find out about the dial and the worth of the watch is:

https://speedmaster101.com/

EDIT: Dial must have tritium lume and could be a step dial but depends

Do you have the reference number form inside caseback?

Excellent overview for all bracelet issues:

Those end links are already 633. As for the rest of it, it ain’t broke, so don’t fix it.

Hi Passover, thanks for all the info. I will take a look at the site and workout what I need. The only reference No I have is on the original paperwork, would that be the same as the one under the case back ?if not I will take it to a jewellers to get it taken off.

WOW, I’ve just enlarged the photo and can see the 633 on the link now, well spotted and thanks for letting me know. The bracelet is original so clasp and dial and maybe hands as someone mentioned. Watch runs perfectly and was always serviced apparently. As you said maybe just leave it as it is, just strange the purchase paperwork says March 25th 1973 and site on google that I entered the reference No said 1974. Thanks for your help

Finding an original dial/hands is going to be tough, and if you can find them, they will likely be expensive and/or in rough condition. I understand you’d like to make it look like it did when your Uncle bought it, but he had them replaced (possibly because they were damaged) and enjoyed it afterwards, so I think you should as well.
