Hello Omega Forum friends,

I would greatly appreciate your insights on this particular Chronostop Genève Driver:
https://www.chrono24.com/omega/chro...nuhr-145010-vintage-klassiker--id46202491.htm

I believe the seller has long since passed any vetting (*4.9 score out of 9,765 reviews, with 12,263 watches sold), but given that my research so far suggests the watch is at the higher end of the price bracket, I want to be especially careful before I pull the trigger.

I have already sent some questions to the seller and requested photos of the case back and timegrapher measurements. However, being aware that I am not an expert, I am wondering how the lack of box and papers, the dial imperfections, the non-original strap, and any other potential drawbacks—which the experienced eyes of connoisseurs might spot—reconcile with the asking price.

Thank you in advance for your input!

Hello. You'll get better responses if you post photographs of the watch not a link.

That asking price is a bit high, but the case is in very nice shape. I see a few things that make me suspect a polish (some lines that aren't as sharp/straight as they should be), and the dial + marker damage from a droopy hour hand would give me pause paying that much.

Thats about 2x what I would expect a basically-flawless chronostop to go for, let alone what dial damage + polish it has.

As far as strap: Any strap that old is going to be either gross or crackly, so I don't think anyone really gives it value. Also, box/paper might add quite a bit, but is the norm enough to not detract.

Huge thanks for the replies, everyone. The insights shared here are incredibly helpful and serve as a great learning resource for those of us still honing our eye.

In the spirit of 'buy the seller as much as the watch,' a quick update: the seller confirmed the crystal is unsigned (no Ω logo). Unfortunately, they also stated they cannot provide additional photos beyond the original listing or any specific timegrapher/accuracy measurements.

Taking that into account—and with a nod to the expert breakdown from @ErichKeane—I’ve decided that the delta between the asking price (which reflects 'collector grade') and the actual condition (which falls short of that) just doesn't sit right. I’ll be passing on this one and keeping the hunt alive.

Thanks again for the steer!

Yea that is a really excessive price for one of these, we’ve seen excellent examples even in rare colors like vibrant blue go for low $1000s
