Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I'm considering purchasing my first Vintage Omega. I came across 2 watches, from the same dealer, which I think could be quite interesting, and I would need your advice. Apologies for the low quality a d incomplete photos, I'll post more when possible! The first I believe is a '57 2802 De Luxe Omega Seamaster, Silver Dial with Coffin Markers. I have no photos of the movement, but it should be a 471. Is it rare? I believe so. I have been asked around 450 USD. The second watch is a '61 Seamaster Calendar 14746-1SC with Golden Coffin Markers and nice patina, movement is a 503. I've been asked around 400 USD. I live in Bangkok, so I would also appreciate advice on a reputable watchmaker. Thank you in advance!
I wouldn’t consider either rare. Personally I think the first is more attractive, as the dial on the second one leaves much to be desired. Note that the first one is relatively small, around 33mm.
The 14746 looks correct... https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/vintage-watches?reference=14746 The other one, not so much. Tom
I think the dial is original but the case has been overpolished. The facet on the lugs is thin and barely visible; the lugs look worn down to a point . I am also dubious about the second hand, looks like a replacement. I have owned a 2802 in the past and it sold for $500usd in late 2018 (sorry for the bad photo). Mine was also a polished example as well with a bit of dial lacquer damage.
