Simple, classic design is always attractive. I think this old favourite from the 60s is as close as you can get to a no date watch while still having a date.

When i was a one watch guy i enjoyed having the date for practical reasons as i need to check the date fairly often. When i started rotating watches, it started to anoy me a bit, especially when a watch didnt have a quick set function or e.g. the jumping hour on my othewise lovely Aqua Terra Skyfall made me nuts 😒
So eventually i ended up wearing mostly without the date.
The funny thing is that my JLC Reverso has a day-night indicator with 24 hours. i mostly wear the watch on the silver side, so setting time is a no-brainer, but sometimes when i flip it to the dark side and it shows me the wrong time of the day it makes me sad 😁 🤨

Now out of my 5 watches only one still has the date function, but this watch is not going anywhere. (Wearing it right now)

Also on my new purchases the focus is clearly on no date watches. I do like the JLC MUT Moon above though.

Let’s set up a poll! Yes or No for a date function. I must have a date function on my watches. The one I’m wearing today doesn’t have a date function. But I’ll be changing it tomorrow for one that does!

Other people’s preferences as to date/no date are meaningless to me! I like having the date on the watch I’m wearing! Today, I am wearing two watches………one without the date, and one WITH the date!

I need a date function, and it should be placed at 3 or 6, never ever at 4. Should have had week display too as its much used in my line of work.
As I have 2 months summer vacation I usually get confused over what day it is, so I wear a watch with a day-date function.

I don’t see a date as a requirement and will buy a watch if I like it regardless of the date complication or not. I’m not sure the date wheel on the Tokyo2020 has enough contrast but it looks fine right now.

The one thing I can’t stand is the day and date at 3 o’clock, that looks terrible to my eye.

That Omega does not look terrible to me, far-far-far from it. To me it looks elegant and classy and that day-date window looks big enough that even I could see it without glasses.

Oh no!

I have done that which is wrong!

I told a lie.

I have equal problem acquiring vintage watches with date features which is a watch function I particularly loathe. I don't want to consult the date function. Don't like setting it. Don't like it cluttering and adulterating an otherwise attractive dial. Did I mention that I don't value the date function?

I won't ever purchase a new watch having a date feature.

I acquired this after August of 2021.

Fun watch, but I still loathe the date and especially the day feature. Would appreciate it more without those.

No date

Speaking of “no date,” you do realize you responded to a poll that was initiated almost three years ago and has been dormant since then. 😀

No matter, it’s an evergreen topic.

I find the date very helpful but prefer that it be unobtrusive. I also don’t mind the clean aesthetic of a no-date watch. I also rarely apply either of these preferences to the actual practice of buying a watch.

Don't be surprised if you put your glasses on and a huge day date display jumps out of the screen and blocks out all the surrounding light.

I don't mind too much either way and I can see the benefit on a daily wearer. However if you're going to put the date on at least make it a feature and properly incorporate it into the dial design. Several of Seiko's new releases I've noticed have tacked the date on at the 4.30 position and it looks like an after-thought: 'where can we squeeze this in'.

The other one that's not for me is a date window beside another number on the dial. 🤦

Man, if only it wasn't for that date window being next to the three this would be a fantastic dress option reminiscent of a JLC.

What a waste

I have managed to get over my date hesitance to buy, mostly because during the week I don’t wear an automatic watch and it is easier to set the watch and go during the weekend, so chalk that up to laziness. I know I don’t have to set the date on a watch with a date but that bothers me. however most of my watches still have dates on them.
