What does “FOMO” mean?
Fear of Missing Out. It is often a bad strategy since it suggests you are reacting perhaps rashly to events rather than making a sensible decision. The Tintin is perhaps a good example. No one bought them when they were £2K and they couldn't give them away, the second they sold out and were pumped by an influencer or two then they suddenly jump to £6K. Same watch, just the FOMO creating froth. I mean no disrespect to TT owners, but it was the first example that popped into my head, there are many others.

Its not like FOIS was some completely undesireable model, there were enough happy owners before it got discontinued.
Now that its discontinued, its logical that it would slightly increase in price if there are still people looking for one.
But i doubt that it will continue going up crazy like TinTin or other overhyped models.
Its a very nice watch but it has its flows.

I am wearing mine mostly on brown leather strap but uncle seiko flatlink bracelet is nice too 😀

Here are my thoughts on it.

After trying both, I must say I like the look of Forstner end links the most:

I bought mine before Forstner anounced his. I would also prefer solid endlinks and stretchlinks, but from optical point of view couldnt justify owning both, as they look the same. Also now that UK left the EU, they got even more expensive. Maybe some day..

No, it's not about solidness, I mean the shape of them.
US endlinks are straight at their bottom and hide the next link inside the hollow of the endlink, making the case look more squared, like a Mark II.
Forstner endlinks on the other hand are like an "H", female shaped, making the gathering of the end link and bracelet more "natural" and ergonomic.

Absolutely true! OMEGA has listed the "FOIS" as a top seller for quite a while and Ben Clymer said it was the bestseller of all OMEGA watches available on the Hodinkee Shop (Source: This episode: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/hodinkee-radio-2021-kick-off )

I find that very hard to believe. The numbers show they sold on average less than 2k a year ie less than any of the million LE Speedies released in the past decade. I take everything posted by Hodonkey with a large dose of skepticism.

Yeah, with these being numbered it’s one of the rare occasions we can determine an average annual sales rate and it ain’t that many

Most AD’s don’t sell a lot of watches to begin with. If 3 FOIS are sold in a month by an AD, that’s actually quite a bit.

Ah yes! I’ve never really looked into this in detail but found the exact ‘squared’ boxiness both the 1125/617 combo to the point where I sold them and put it back on the leather. Those Forstner end links look tip top.

I also think one should take those statements with a grain of salt, but it could be possible that those got very popular, shortly before they got discontinied, no?

Once you see and feel the difference, there's no turning back. I wish I've noticed before buying 3 US bracelets.

This is what I mean about US (blue sweater) pic) comparing to Forstner (white T-shirt).

For me in Spain after Brexit is cheaper and faster now ordering to USA than UK.

I’m buying a Forstner. Decided. I didn’t know I needed it until a couple of hours ago. Now I know why I didn’t like my previous bracelet. Ah, love spending cash on thing I don’t really need 😗
