Have doubts Hamilton military

I was given this Hamilton military watch from a co-worker, no details about where it came from or who it belonged to. Since it was dated during a time that I was in Vietnam and Laos during my last tour I accepted it with my thanks. After looking at it closely, including the face, back and movement I have my doubts it's a real Hamilton. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

It was nice of him to think of you and give you this gift, but you were right to have doubts.

That does look pretty odd. FWIW, if you are interested in a military issued Hamilton from that era, the cost of entry isn't terribly high.

Thank you for your replies. I'm not in any way a watch expert and did try to find some similar to this. What I came up with were these with one having like hands and the other a like dial but, in neither case were they convincing. Not really interested in these other than at one time I was issue one but, turned it in when I mustered out. I might like to have one like it.

When were you enlisted? I post them on the bargain thread when I find them in good shape at a fair price (usually between $250-400) and as the years are printed on the back, it’s easy to know. Anywhere from a month to a year before your enlistment date would have been appropriate for when it was made.

This was also the period when there was an overlap with Benrus:
Mine from ‘69

It's a common counterfeit, but a thoughtful gift anyway.

I enlisted in 1964 but, was only issued a watch, a Hamilton, when I was deployed for my last tour in 1972. I mustered out in Oct of 1973.
I should have asked, where is the bargain thread?

Thank you.

That looks like a French movement. Possibly Jeambrun. In my opinion, that movement would never have found its way into a Hamilton.
