Considered buying a Seiko Quartz Chronograph while they were on sale (less than $100)but decided to put it off . perhaps they will be on sale again in a few months. Glad I did put it off since most reviews stated the skeletal bright metal hands with white lume were difficult to see at a glance against the silvery color of the dial in most lighting conditions. They have a slightly cheaper version (sale price) with the same hands but a black dial.

All I know is the longer it takes to flatten the virus curve, the longer it will flatten the economic recovery too.

Here's to a quick recovery on both counts.馃憤

It looks like you can still buy direct from the Omega website.

Watching eBay, looks like lots of folks are still buying out there. So it has affected me by giving me a bit more competition on a couple pieces I wanted to buy. Thought it may be a good time to buy my wanted 2531.80 and I鈥檝e got some $ burning a hole in my PayPal acct but haven鈥檛 found a good one at the right price yet.

Yes, there are some Watches for sale that I would have bought in a heartbeat before, but due to the current situation I don't feel like buying any.
Maybe another Ref.2374 could change my mind.馃槜

The current situation has had no effect on my watch buying because I'm broke right now.

Should it be 'affected', not effected, in the title? For me, I sold my Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue and picked up a Tudor Black Bay GMT. I'm $3500 to the good and won't be buying another watch until the Covid-19 situation is in the rear view mirror.

I鈥檓 threading cautiously now, and not wearing any watches right now also keeps me somehow a bit out of looking to buy.

But still bought one this week, well it was made of 18k gold so i thought it will still keep its value way better than steels right now. And it had been looking for one for some time, and it was priced right for these times.

So if there鈥檚 one you鈥檝e been eyeing for a long time, and the price is corrected, and you have the possibility to do this economically, then do it.

Otherwise hold on, the world won鈥檛 dry up of vintage watches quite yet...

And this thread needs some pictures, so here鈥檚 the one i bought this week.

I was considering a Seiko SLA021 just before the shutdown, it sure put a damper on it! I'll wait until the ADs reopen. It is not as if I really needed it now anyway.

I fail to see the need, or even desire, to withdraw from enjoyable things in life because of this virus. I've lived through the crash of '87, the dot-com bubble, 9/11, and the Great Recession yet I deliberately stayed focused on life, otherwise you can pretty easily slide into depression and that doesn't help the situation at all. This will pass fairly quickly and life will get back to normal, this is not going to change the world forever regardless of what the breathless media wants to tell you. Wear your watches, enjoy your family, find joy in the small things. If you are financially stable there is nothing wrong with researching and buying a new watch at this time.

I mostly agree with you but the shocks you mention were mere distant blips on the radar for most people. Here it directly impact the lives of hundreds of millions who are under a forced shutdown. Nothing recent compares to this mess.

Watching your retirement account drop by 24% in ONE DAY was real for millions of people in 1987, pundits were saying the world was never going to be the same again, yet we recovered fairly quickly. The world wasn't really changed. Agree more people are being affected now, but in a year's time it will be in the rear view mirror. Let us hope we will have learned some lessons so we don't make this same decision again. We should learn that better options were available.

I鈥檓 in this same category. Two days ago I had a watch in my sights and I completely forgot about it.

And common sense.

On the sidelines, but with cash. It will likely go into the market, but if a good opportunity on a watch I like presents itself I can take action.
