Hard choice: Speedmaster 60th LE or Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday LE?

Why hasn't anyone said both yet? I'm getting the 60th, because I wasn't able to reserve a SpeedyTuesday. Given the opportunity, I would get both, only for nothing more than retail.

I like both, but prefer twisted lug cases, so Speedy Tuesday for me, please!
Then, maybe the 2019 50th anniversary, if it keeps the line with the ST.

SpeedyTuesday馃グ

As well as the given brown leather and NATO strap options, I think it will also look very cool on black leather and SS bracelet.

It is my first fine watch. (if not counting Junghans). Honestly, I don't want both at this stage. Well.. I more precisely, I don't have money to get both. Even if I had I would by another brand - another story. I want one Omega and I want to make good choice here. Interesting to read the discussion. Thanks. I like 60th - I like design, the 38,6 mm size. I am thinking now what I actually wanted to get of you all? Is it reassurance? As I am new, I dont follow the brand for xx years.. I dont know how often Omega release LEs. I probably wanted some added value - "added feeling" that I am buying something, that can grow on value over time (but at the same time I dont care, as I just want to enjoy and wear fine watch). Thank to you all for your views.

Speedy Tuesday for me.

Not being biased although I've got one coming but the Speedy 60th doesn't do it for me. I'm not too much of a fan for a reissue (in this case the 3rd time... although it was finally done right this time). And secondly I'm not a fan of the steel bezel on the original one 2915 or steel bezels on speedies in general. I've always liked the 2998-1, 2998-2 more.

Now if they brought back those in their original form...

Exactly like a Newman Daytona? Have you ever seen a Newman Daytona?

Let's not get caught up in semantics. There is more than just a passing resemblance.

Speedy Tuesday is a great looking watch, but one shouldn't criticize Speedmaster 60th as a "pale imitation" without taking the same stance on the Tuesday. Both watches draw significant inspiration from classic designs that are beloved by the collector community.

I'm getting both but if I had to pick one....I'd stick with the Speedy Tuesday. It's a better looking watch....that's all there is to it hah.

I'm not going to lie . I want both, it's impossible to decide between the two.

btw @abrahamovic please don't use all caps like that in a thread title, I know you do it to make your thread stand out and get more attention, but thats precisely why its not appropriate to do.

Looks nothing like the modern day Daytona though. But sure for me the ST is basically an amalgamation of a vintage Daytona with a speedy.

Is it possible to have a better chronograph than that?!!

None of the above. I'm a purist and stick to the classics!

Cheers

Personally I find the anniversary edition to be more desirable for a few reasons:

1. It's the closest I'm ever getting to a 2915, probably my favorite watch of all time.

2. It's slightly more modestly sized than the modern speedy case, which will play well with my smaller than average wrists

3. I already have a 105.012, an asymmetrically cased speedmaster. Because of this, the anniversary edition is more of a departure from what I already own, due to its straight lugged case and steel bezel.

4. The bracelet that the anniversary model comes on looks fantastic.

That said, I love the ST and if the opportunity were to come up to buy one, I'd probably do it. The all-brushed case is wonderful. I hope they do that again in the future.

I love both watches. Putting aside factors such as collectibility, future value, etc., and just focusing on the aesthetic appeal of the watch to me, I would pick the Speedmaster 60th. I'm a Porsche enthusiast, and the Porsche analogy would be a brand new '73 Carrera RS with a 993-spec air-cooled flat six. Also, I already own three Speedmasters with twisted lugs, so it would be nice to add a straight lug to the collection.

I've got the ST reserved. I've asked my AD to reserve the 60th for me but he never got back to me so I might just end up with the ST. For me, the ST would be a more prized possession because it was an idea that came from someone like us - a speedy fanatic.
