Happy New Year to my friends here at OF, we lived in challenging times both at home and abroad this past year, and 2024 is getting ready to say "hold my beer."

My New Year's resolutions are all things I can achieve and I have control over. It's impossible to set goals that we have no control over or depend upon the actions of other people as much as we lie to ourselves otherwise.

1. Have a lower footprint, I will eat less meat and try to be vegetarian at least 1 day a week for most weeks. I am proposing meatless Sundays, and hope maybe we can make that a thing. Did you know that if everyone went meatless 1 day a week it would reduce CO2 production by 8.7%? Plus it is healthier, and I really want to perfect my lentil recipe.

2. Take better care of myself mentally, and make more alone time to re-center. Sit on the beach focus on the water and clear my mind from the frustrations that we will all endure.

3. Be healthier in general, to many bad habits left from the COVID era that I need to kick, exercise more often, and eat better.

4. Master the wok, and cooking healthier with one.

5. Take time to work on my Book. Working Title "Dr Strangebooze - Or: how I learned to stop worrying and love the burn"

6. Most importantly, take time to remind the people around me how much they mean to me, something I am not always the best at.

Please enjoy this great cover I came across last year. It is a little piece of beauty that came out of 2023.

I can help with this. Try watching the movie "The Game Changers."

My wife, oldest daughter and I watched it without really knowing what it was about. At the end, we each decided we wanted to become vegetarians. It's been about 2 plus years.

We aren't vegetarian evangelists. Besides all the existential reasons for being a vegetarian, we decided based on the healthy aspects. If i felt like I was being denied meat, I wouldn't have kept it up. I will occasionally eat fish tacos or eat bbq when i visit Texas. But I have zero cravings for meat.

Not saying you will have the same reaction, but that was our reaction after watching this movie.

We are on Mountain Standard time (Rocky Mountains), same as Denver Colorado. We timed in the New Year on my Hamilton model 21 marine chronometer which was spot on with my iPad clock.
