Looks good. I have a hesalite and a white dial, the white one only has lume at the bottom of the markers so it does not glow like these do.

At the moment I'm using the lume on the minute hand and the lack of an OB near me.

Both of those may change

not sure if I like how shiny the dial seems to be
Also a bit my concern. Can't wait to see it for real at my OB. They wrote they would contact me once they have one available. Either they sell them immediately or Omega supplies international OBs first lol.

Bloody marvelous

How's the bracelet feel?

Is the case thinner than the OG?

Lug to lug looks the same?

How's the new dial in person? Is it as nice as it looks in pics?

The indexes on the new one look slightly longer?

The lume color in the new one looks natural. What do you thi k?

After nearly a week of wearing the new FOIS, the thrill hasn’t faded. The stark white second hand, along with the minute and hour subdial hands, make a bold statement—this Omega is, at its core, a chronograph. It unapologetically prioritizes functionality over legibility, with darker markers subtly dimming in lower light. This watch is a tool, designed for precision, just as essential for those first explorers of space. And when I catch glimpses of blue reflecting through the dark dial, I imagine it’s the same vast blue that Walter “Wally” Schirra saw from space.

Is not legibility always a priority over functionality in any type of tool watch?

I was a little confused by this comment as well. I love how this watch looks, but I definitely throw it into the "vintage tribute" category first and "tool watch" category second.

This may have already been mentioned but there are only two 'new' parts on this watch. One is the dial, the other is the case back. The hour and minute hands are FOIS items with a different shade of lume. Everything else is from the parts bin.

I do like the dial though!

So the sapphire is already on another Omega model?

As far as I can tell, the whole case (minus the caseback of course) is from the 2020 Ed White.

The sapphire isn't though- and it isn't even an identical shape to the Seamaster Trilogy or Seamaster heritage, and it probably shares the most with those two out of Omega's currebt sapphire lineup.

Edit: and the Ed White crystal, but still not identical.

Fabulous.

To me it looks almost exactly what I would expect on a NOS OG from that era … i have seen some -4s with lugs almost identical
Lug to lug looks the same?
My calipers were at home … oh wait … don’t gawt no calipers 😀 I think they didn’t muck around here…
How's the new dial in person? Is it as nice as it looks in pics?
Always a pain under OB lighting … but its lovely…
The indexes on the new one look slightly longer?
… and recessed into the dial ..,
The lume color in the new one looks natural. What do you thi k?
I think it looks natural. And, as we have seen, a lot of the vintage pieces started out life without white lume …

Did you take it home?
No…but when my main OB man wasn’t looking, I made sweet passionate love to it … it wanted me to take it home 😁

Three new parts then.... but I'd be sceptical they've done this just for this model. If the feedback is positive perhaps they're hoping to kill off the hesalite Speedmaster Pro. Can bet they hate having to make two different cases for those. The Ed White crystal fits the original FOIS and the Moonwatch sapphire version. Which means this one will too.
