Ok, I wait until they‘ve sold this one before visiting the OB 😀

As far as I can tell, the whole case (minus the caseback of course) is from the 2020 Ed White.
Is not legibility always priority over functionality in any type of tool watch?
It is. I find that it is more for the chronograph function because the hands are in white and they stand out compares to the rest of the watch. When I glance at the watch, my eyes tend to focus first on the brighter white batons of this FOIS particularly in dim conditions. My post was meant to be poetic and could have used a few more words to make more sense - "It unapologetically prioritizes the chronograph function over the less legible outer hour and minute markers , with darker markers subtly dimming in lower light."
This may have already been mentioned but there are only two 'new' parts on this watch. One is the dial, the other is the case back. The hour and minute hands are FOIS items with a different shade of lume. Everything else is from the parts bin.
I do like the dial though!
your poetry is great, but reality is that when you’re in space, you see black, not blue (sorry)
False. Crystal, crown, pushers, case back, case tube, winding stem, dial and hands are all exclusive to this new model. Even the movement spacer (enlargement ring) is specific to this watch only. The only case parts listed that are not exclusive to this watch are the seals, the case screws and clamps, and the spring bars. Very far from being a parts bin watch actually.
Which was my point exactly. I hope my irony shone through
A reflection from our blue planet underneath and a nod to those astronauts who saw her with their own eyes from a different vantage point. I would like to imagine what it was like to lose focus on any objects that were reflecting earth, including their watch if they were wearing one.
Neil Armstrong (Apollo 11, first human to walk on the Moon) - "It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small."
Chris Hadfield (ISS astronaut) - ""The world itself is overwhelmingly blue with deep, powerful oceans that take up most of the surface. It’s quite stunning when you first see it."
Yuri Gagarin (Vostok 1, first human in space) - "The sky is very dark; the Earth is bluish. Everything is seen very clearly."
Scott Kelly (ISS astronaut) - "You look out at this thing that is a blue ball, a blue and white planet, and it looks like it has a thin film around it, which is the atmosphere. It really gives you this perspective that it's our home, and it’s something we need to take care of."
And to the black that you see...
The FOIS man himself, Wally Schirra - “I left Earth three times, and found no other place to go. Please take care of Spaceship Earth.”
