·I’m kinda bummed and gonna drop this thread right to bumville. I drink a lot of coffee to the point it’s a running joke at work. I was listening to an unsolved mysteries podcast last night which was about water wars and 0 days coming for major metropolitan areas (and has already hit areas in South Africa and California where water has been rationed)
It takes 130 liters of water to produce one cup of coffee. WTF I’m easily at 6-7 cups a day. I must have heard this info before and just not retained it. It seems people freak out more about Bitcoin power consumption than how much water is wasted and how wealthy areas (aka middle class to lower middle class in the west compared to much of the world) now what do I do. Quit coffee? I heard people do it just never occurred to me. I get headaches if I go the day without coffee (ok 1/4 of the day) wait till you hear how much water is used for that burger you had or a long list of other offenders as water mafias operate in Mexico and hedge funds are buying up the best water providing land in the US Midwest, selling it back to farmers and making a 20% return for its investors.
I always wondered why the focus on Bitcoin maybe this is why with hundreds of millions or it it a billion now lack access to clean water. We can’t focus on the real hurt we do. But I know Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owners clear 100,000k a year. I know one of my female coworkers stopped working when her husband opened his 5th one. They say if you buy one franchise you bought a full time job you buy a handful you bought wealth.
Sorry getting to be TLDR maybe I’ll just stop seeking new information because most of it contradicts what I thought and is a bummer. I figured maybe 2-3 cups of water to make a cup of coffee but 549.48 cups wtf.
Anyway it’s getting near 5:30a here, enjoy your morning cup of coffee. Have a nice day.
