Question to the group. I am the proud owner of my new Speedmaster professional 3861 sapphire version. Love this thing. Question is, what is the dial made from and will fade over time?

Archer could answer this more specifically but as far as I'm aware the standard Speedmaster 3861 dial is brass that has been painted/varnished. Most dials are (but not all). It may undergo some change that will be noticeable 40 or 50 years from now- but there are many vintage dials from the 60s that still look great.

Modern luminova is fairly stable. Your markers may yellow very slightly several decades from now but it is not going to change as dramatically as tritium markers used to.

Overall, unless you have water into the case, that dial should look more or less like it does today 20 or 30 years from now. Modern paints have also gotten a lot more stable afaik.

Painted/printed brass.
