Whats your plan for the watch? Stick it in a safe? Put it on display? Or will you wear it? Also do you plan to keep it as is?

Cool! Where you race? I’m mainly UK... done a few bits and bobs. May be out on a Sierra RS500 for an HSCC event in 2019. Possibly the Metro too. And also maybe a Morgan. That Porsche is epic.

Ah, is that a 6R4??? I see no engine in the back 😵‍💫

I was working for ComputerVision when I raced my GRD 372 in the 1980s. Colour match(-ish) is coincidental, that's the way I bought it.

My friend Peter Day won the Metro championship in the late 1970s / early 1980s and after retiring from that class repainted his car to look like a van and advertise his Lotus dealership Daytune. Fastest van on the A11 between Cambridge and the Lotus factory at Hethel 😜

Can't see them here but stickers on the GRD show that Daytune sponsored the Classic F3 series at the time, which is how Peter got me (willingly) involved.

Such a small world! My Dad bought this Lotus Elan Sprint in 1996 from Paul Marty Sportscars. It was restored by Peter Day in 1988 and his work was subject to a classic and sports car magazine centre spread. Peter looked after the car until he retired so we know him and his work well. The best in the business for Elans for sure!

The Metro is not a 6R4 unfortunately! It’s the owner’s (Ray Kershberg) old road car that he converted to race car in the 80s and has been racing and modifying it ever since. We did a race in the CSCC last year and we’re due to race at Silverstone Classic but got pulled last minute (we were guest class so HSCC competitors got preference). Ray raced in single seaters back in the 80s too so you may have come across him.

Have the odd pic on my phone... my dad in the car, a pic of us doing London to Brighton years ago (probs soon after buying it) and a pic of me driving with an Omega on to keep the punters happy 😀 And one of my dad in his mini at Silverstone in 1969.

Nice pics Boony. My first saloon racer was a 1973 Ford Escort Mexico with a Ford BDA twin cam engine.. I was only 18 then.

A little off topic but I did the paintwork design on the Timo Makinen 'Pepsi' Monte Carlo Rally car in 1972.........

Pic above 'borrowed' from the internet but I have some original pics somewhere that I took at Boreham just after it was painted.

You must surely have a copy of that article? If it was written by Mark Hughes I was in Peter's premises when the pictures were taken! I used to maintain and write custom software for his computer -- which he said got him a lot of cred at dealer meetings. "You're using UNIX? Wow."

Peter's ex-apprentice Gerald Turner carries that banner now <GST Performance - no website> Peter builds very fancy classic racing motorcycles now https://www.peterdayyamaha.com/

PM me a snail-mail address and I'll see what Daytune goodies I can find.

Took me 10 seconds to say "Henry" then after another 2 "Liddon". Stuart Turner brought Timo to a roadshow (may have been in the Castrol days) where Timo told us how to drive at rally winning speeds in thick fog. "Go too fast, get used to it."
