Gold is coming back in favor.

No doubt aided by certain steel watches being sold at gold prices.

I have wondered about this. The manufacturers seem to be pushing more gold and two tone pieces with their new releases the last few years.

Precious metal pieces, both new and vintage, also seem to be getting more attention at the likes of HODINKEE lately too.

It depends a lot on where you live. There are places that using gold watches is impossible, 10 minutes do not pass and you will surely be robbed. I think an all-gold watch doesn't look good anymore. Maybe in steel and gold or the head of gold and the leather or steel band looks great

Millennial, located in the US. I love my gold watches.

I really like the top two 👍
That hobnail dial is spectacular!

My gold, or gold plated watches.

I wasn't expecting the Sona to have real gold plating but according to a review of these the plating is 23.5 Karat Gold.

I have a couple more but don't have decent images of those and I'm not sure if they are real gold anyway.

Heres another Benrus that I gave my sister, too flashy for a man these days.

I like the gold look, but for an outdoor tool watch I figure a stainless case makes more sense.
Gold markers and hands are more easily visible if not lumed.

PS
Despite the high price of gold the actual value of the tiny amount used in plating a watch is only a few cents worth.

sorry I can’t resist but I think this gif captures the essence of this thread elegantly
