There is an interesting thread where forum members are showing off their black dial watches, so how about another one where we show our gold watches. I'll kick it off with some of mine:
Me too and I happen to think they are also a good bet in investment terms as well. Wearing a solid gold watch is just a nice feeling and I've been able to pick some up for remarkably good prices. I am a fan of Constellations and I'd love an 18ct gold pie pan if the right one came along.
I have an 18ct Universal Geneve from 1950 shown below that is the oldest watch in my collection but I'd like a Polerouter. They were designed by Gerald Genta I believe.
Never want to miss a chance to throw some pictures around but do not want to be barking up the wrong tree - are we talking solid gold or everything gold coloured/capped/plated?.
I guess I intended solid gold and all the watches I have shown are solid gold but I doubt if anybody would protest too loudly if you show something gold cap or gold filled if you like them. Perhaps we should add a few details about the watches where possible. It's actually amazing how much variation in durability there is between plate, filled and cap. Some of the modern gold plated watches show signs of wear after just a year or two.
168.005, 18k, without too much polishing done... Rose, 18k, 14381 Rose, 18k, 2930 Capped, 168.005 Thai Capped... no, just kidding... 18k, Daytona, 16518 Used to have another dial but I could not get away with it... Rose capped Lemania Still at my watchmaker for a much needed service (and correction of tensionring, etc.). 18k, de Luxe Polarouter And its humble younger brother - the 18k, Polerouter de Luxe Its rose 18k cousin, still with its yellow generic crown... 18k, Zenith Captain de Luxe And then there is a capped 2577, chronometre Seamaster that I have no decent picture of. It is still at the servicepoint Another bad pic - of an American cased capped/plated Globemaster Rose groupshot
