A couple of former inmates. Those who dismiss white gold probably haven't worn a watch made in that metal, as it can't easily be confused with steel.

@Tony C. - former, as in you sold them? Are those the references with the outstanding rotor? (one of 4 calibers including the 2499)

There was a gold speedy for sale here I drooled over for a long time and would have liked to have bought but the wife says we have to have a house.

Fashion shifts and my suspicion is fashion has shifted from gold because of cost.

isnt the opposite true? we are living in a world of luxury today (rlx, LV, bentley,etc...) i have the feeling that gold = similar to fur

very uncool, but not for monetary reasons, but as in "aspirational for old people ONLY"

fwiw, my wife also opted for a 50 bucks ss wedding band over gold ... whom am i to argue ::rimshot::

AP had a very heavy emphasis on Gold this year and Rolex's biggest watch of the last year is arguably the 116655. If anything it has felt like Gold is on an upswing to me.

@ulackfocus Yes, sold some time ago, though I'd be delighted to welcome them back! They both featured the sublime cal. 2071 (twin of the V&C 1071) movements. The (preceding) 2499 did not have the ruby rollers. Here's one:

The issue with gold in modern watches is that modern watches are huge manacles on the wrist. Make 'em in gold and they fairly scream "Dubai used Bentley salesman." A normally sized vintage piece is simply elegant, even with jeans ( not torn jeans or cutoff so, mind you). I truly have no idea why some of you feel you can't wear it.

How long does warm summer weather last in your neck of the woods - 3 or 4 days? 😜

If we are lucky 😉

You know I respect everyone here...
With that said I find them dated. I remember growing up during middle and high school when silver began to break into the market more. I always wore gold, then two toned started hot the market and I always bought two toned watches. Now in 2016, I find gold to seem a bit dated. I still wear a solid gold chain with a saint pendant, but ended up getting a two toned ring because I preferred white watches. Just something about gold in a watch that dates it back before the 90's.
Just my two cents.

Nope. No good. My watches need to date before the 70's.

You should sell that InvisiBracelet to @CajunTiger or @jens0125 because it would match their InvisBezels perfectly! 👍

those are crazy-glued directly to your wrist ... ;o)

It's interesting, the guy who bought that piece was chatting me up for weeks in advance and he was very excited about it, even sold his Rolex BLNR to make room for it... well, he had it for 3 weeks and put it up for sale. Gold watches are not for everyone, that's for sure.

You must have quite the left bicep with that monster of a Connie, I've not actually seen that one before. I knew they made the 2.4Mhz Stardust in an 18K case but wasn't aware of the f8192 gold model.

edit: Wait a second is that Seamaster above it White gold?!
