Hi,

how can I know if it's gold filled/plated or solid? Without possibility to check lugs, open caseback? Thx!
I thought gold caseback means its solid but I'm confused now as I see they can also be GF

Most likely gold-filled, this is sort of an early Seamaster De Ville or pre-De Ville with the coat hanger S dial, nice watches, decent water resistance, some are gold-filled, some 14K solid gold, and you’ll typically find the words “14K Gold” or “14K Gold Filled” between the lugs on one end.

Thx, hm apparently I cannot see anything between the lugs, I have some other photos, is it possible thats its not there? At least I'm quite sure I dont see anything long enough to be "14k gold filled" text. Now I will know the truth after I get it and open the case back.. I already bought it, thinking its solid because of the case back, I will be dissapointed if its only filled 🙁

There is probably a tiny 14GF somewhere. BTW, the watch has no case-back. It's a one-piece case.

so its opened from the glass side?
How do you know that its not solid for sure? Are there any other signs or is it just your guess? In the internet I can see many variants of that seamaster with gold back, plated, filled and solid, many dials and hands settings.

Sorry, I don't know that it's gold-filled vs 14k, I was just encouraging you to look very carefully for small markings.

Yes, the movement comes out through the front after the crystal is removed.

As far as I googled similar cases Seamaster deville from 1959 and a bit later didn’t have small markings. Like a very very small, they had it between lugs, as dsio said, but for this one I cannot see anything from photos, only a small sign but seems to be short text between bottoms lugs. From what I googled, they had full text, didnt notice any of them hading 14GF, they had 14K Gold or 14K Gold-Filled. But as always it can probably be different for different region etc.

Thanks guys for your suggestions if anyone would like to take voice please do 😀
