Coffee break with my GM – running it on a new ash and cork strap from Ace Jewelers in the Netherlands. Really digging this combo. Ok, back to work...

Love that combo🥰. When I saw the caramel strap on the white dial annual calendar,I always wondered what a the non-cluttered white dial version would look like with a brown/caramel strao.

These photos don’t do it justice, but I was trying to capture the tonal variations on the white dial under different lighting conditions. Love how it shifts from warm to cold, cream to flat white to silver. Depending on the angle and light, the darkness of the hands really gives the GM a very graphic feel, especially with the dark grey strap. At other times the hands shimmer silver giving a much softer contrast against the dial. Sometimes it glows and at other times it feels matte.

One of my favorite thing about the dial is how at certain angles and light conditions it can look completely flat, and then a turn of the wrist reveals a shift to the three dimensionallity of the pie pan. Sometimes it looks partially flat on one edge and sculptural on the other at the same time.

The edge between the shift in planes is so subtle yet sharp, it feels almost invisible yet present... you don’t see it, but you feel it, until a light source creates a strong contrast that reveals a sharp edges along the pie pan. Sounds weird but it’s the best I can describe it.

I feel the bezel plays off the dial and the brushed SS case so well. Some have remarked that it looks more like a coin edge than a fluted bezel. Under certain light when the hands look black, and cause dark ridges on the bezel, it looks almost like the teeth on the edge is a gear wheel, echoing a machined utilitarian quality. Sometimes the light gleams off of it, giving it a jewel like presence.

It’s certainly not an attention grabber from a distance, and perhaps the lack of immediacy turns some people off... but the slow transience nature in how it reveals various qualities over time, and at an extremely subtle level, is really what attracted me, and continually attracts me, to the GM. I feel a good word to describe the SS white dial GM for me is ephemeral.

I totally agree that this model is not getting enough love. Only pictures can persuade the non believers. 👍

A Globemaster appreciation club sounds completely awesome, and appropriate considering how underrated the GM is. Yeah, you have a great collection of GM pics on IG, which reminds me, I love my dark grey leather strap, but I have to say that the more I see the GM white dial on the bracelet on IG, the more I want to pick one up. Just hoping the bracelet fits my 6.25" wrist, as I know sizing seems an issue for some people.

What do you currently have yours on?
Are you worried the bracelet will fit too big?
I will say that as much as I currently have it on the bracelet, on my wrist as I type this message, I am not the biggest fan of the bracelet.

I currently have it on the original dark grey croc strap it came with. I really love the strap and haven’t taken it off since getting it, and it works well with my wrist size.

Yes, I’m concerned that the bracelet will not fit well or look too bulky on my thin wrist. Also that the taper from the end link will produce too much of a gap with my wrist. I’ve read that the lack of micro adjustments makes for either a perfect, or less than perfect fit. I suppose I won’t know until I try it, but I do love how the bracelet seems to integrate with the watch so seamlessly.

May I ask why you’re not the biggest fan of the bracelet? Also, would you mind mentioning your wrist size and if that affects your perception of the bracelet?

Thanks,
Craig

I am not a fan of the fluted bezel, I do like it on a DJ but not on a connie
I second this

I have a 6.6 inch wrist - i feel like it might affect my perception of the bracelet but haven't thought too much about that...

I don't love the bracelet because its very sharp on the edges. I've had a couple times where when I was moving fast and angled my hand weird, it cut my wrist slightly. Then I would switch to my Rolex with the Oyster and life would be good again...

Thanks for the reply. I’ve heard similar feedback about the bracelet being sharp. I read in Longbow’s awesome review of the GM that he had the boutique go over the edge with a polish wheel (hope I’m not misquoting) to make the edge less sharp, due to the same issue of comfort. I suppose if I decide to pick it up, I’ll do the same.

Love this GM under different light.

Not sure if your post is directed towards me, but if it is, I went with the GM olpaline silver dial with the strap. I know the blue dial tends to be a favorite (it is gorgeous), but there’s something about the subtlety of the silver dial in combination with the hands, bezel and brushed case that kept me coming back to it.

I did not check out the Zenith defy when deciding on the GM. I chose the GM on the combination it’s unique of features and not dial color as the main drive for the purchase.

The silver dial is such am under appreciated version of an already under appreciated watch IMHO.
