Thanks for the photos!! I guess most people agree that I should get the watch with the metal bracelet? Have read somewhere that the metal bracelet may not be easy to get a good fit. How true is that? I've never had an omega with the butterfly clasp.

Well, as a butterfly clasp you can't micro-adjust the overall bracelet length, so that is certainly a weakness in the overall concept. Indeed this was one of the main reasons that I delayed pulling the trigger myself, eventually opting for the dark blue strap version which I found instantly comfortable.

Having said all that my GM is now on the bracelet; the exact thing that I was originally so unsure about. I had a link taken out at the Omega Boutique and since then the watch has hardly left my wrist. I expected the butterfly system to be a fiddly affair but you soon get used to it. I find the positive click it makes when closing the first half better than on the latest Rolex Sub I tried a while ago. (Not Rolex bashing, it's a great watch, just my personal feeling at the time).

Be warned, if you are into watch collecting you might want to stay away from the blue dialed Globemaster. Once you have one the other watches might not get a look in. My '70 Connie and '69 Gold Seamaster are in the safe and the Sinn 857 UTC is actually on loan to a colleague, the rest don't matter.

I've had mine for 14 months. I always like coming back to it, but unfortunately I have quite a few others which I have to wear as well...😵‍💫

Couple of firsts here: this is my first post here at OF, and my Globemaster is the first automatic watch I've ever owned. It's also the first Swiss watch I've ever owned and definitely the most expensive (previous record for that was $800 - Citizen Satellite). Months of research went into deciding on the Globemaster and I could not be any more pleased!

I purchased it BNIB with all AD docs for a fantastic price after some negotiating. I love the bracelet, but I'm still in that phase where I don't want a single scratch on any part of the watch. So I'm looking into buying a NATO strap so I can wear it more confidently knowing my every day activities are not going to result in scratches.

Anyway, here it is!

Great watch.. I don't think a NATO would do it justice though. A nice brown or black leather strap with non contrasting stitching though... that works.

What an impressive start to Omega life! Welcome and great choice.
My rather scratched bracelet says hi.

As for the NATO idea, been there, done that and many other variants too, such as shark mesh. I've uploaded a bunch of pics here....just go hunting through my posts.

Thin non-Omega NATOs fit just fine but I found that the higher quality, thicker Omega ones will only work with curved spring bars, but you can get them from Omega.

Have fun

I'm also thinking the same thing. I'm looking at different options and will definitely post a pic once I decide on a strap.

What is the weight of your GM in grams after the watch bracelet is adjusted to your wrist. I have the same wrist size and would like to know how heavy it would be on my wrist. Thnx

I hope to eventually buy a full rose or yellow gold Globemaster after I get an Omega meteorite, it just seems like the logical next step after buying a flashy, modern speedy that I also get a classic and timeless piece for far more reserved occasions.

Or I may just stick to one watch. The more time I spend on these forums the more I want to just buy up a whole collection of Omega watches!
