Which should i buy? I’m liking the blue dial best. Can you experts let me know if these are looking right and/or in good condition? I did a ton of research but I’m no expert. Also, all of these are over 1k - is that what you’d pay?

Hi and welcome!

This gone be tough 😉

Totally different watches

Why did you pick only this seller?

Has your husband already a watch?

The first one in black is available at ebay for around 300€ [EDIT: Sorry but the watch for 300€ is in bad condition, I didn't saw this at first glance] , Seller wants more than 1000 GBP(?) ???

Move away from this seller and give us more input how to find a watch for your husband

Your husband may prefer a sweep second hand, which this particular blue dial doesn’t have.

Thank you all for the quick help! These are all in USD. I picked this seller because he has a storefront close by so i can take my husband there to exchange the watch in case he doesn’t like them. Here are the links to the watches. I’ve negotiated the prices down from what’s listed but let me know what an appropriate price would be.

And a little more info on my husband. He’s a traditionalist so i know he’d want whatever’s most authentic to a 1960s omega. He loves watches and likes a bit of flair, which is why i chose the colored dials or gold metal.

I know it’s not the ideal way of presenting a gift, but the more practical solution might be to look at pictures together with him.

The links you posted makes me want to emphasize the recommendation of looking for another place. Some dealers do service their watches, this one, however, doesn’t even do that. Looking at some of the pictures he obviously didn’t even bother to clean them.

Can’t comment on a realistic price on the blue one, but the Seamaster (gold hands) is almost twice the price I’d expect, the grey Constellation has some flaws (lume plots missing, crown is incorrect) and would, unserviced, be a ~800-900$ watch max in my book.

/edit: How much time do you have to find a suitable piece?

The classifieds here are often a good bet, but I’ve just scrolled through them and don’t currently see something suitable that’s in the US. The time at hand is definitely the limiting factor here - finding something that’ll be in your hands by Saturday is going to be tough. Happy to keep my eyes open, though.

If money is less of an object here than time and security, you might also check out the omega enthusiast.

People here are mostly collectors who spend a considerable amount of time researching and thus are more comfortable pulling the trigger if they find something for a good price on eBay without any guarantees. The OE definitely charges a significant premium but from all I’ve seen and heard, the watches are all original, well serviced, come with a guarantee and are in great condition. Scrolling through the site doesn’t hurt, see for yourself - it would be the expensive, yet clean and easy solution.

How about this? FedEx may have it with you by Saturday

https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-constellation-168-017-c-shape-serviced-eur-700.132540/

Personally, I would tell my wife that I am really happy we have been together so long, give her a kiss and tell her that I want to buy her a wonderful present but getting it right means I cannot give it to her today. Though, then again my wife is now used to my general tardiness.
You can use the search function to look through the sales forums here, you will see plenty of very nice watches that have come and gone. So it probably will not be too long before another beauty comes up fr sale. Also, members here will generally “call out” a watch that is incorrectly described in the for sale forums here. Though returns if it is not liked is not so easy.
Good luck and happy anniversary

i appreciate you all so much. truly. this is a really special gift and i want to get it right. i've been trying to think of the perfect gift for our 10 year anniversary for so long and i remembered too late in the game that he made a comment YEARS ago about wanting a 60s omega. i have no idea it would be this nuanced! thank you for all the advice and recos!

You have a reasonable budget and it might be fun to look at the pictures together and to learn a little more about the different watches before jumping in. I don't see anything here that is the sort of special 10th anniversary gift (nice idea!) you are looking for which I am sure you would like to be stunning and something that will always be a reminder of that special day. It's a lot of money to spend on something that you may regret later just so you have the watch on the day.

I would make sure you get something that is serviced or find a watchmaker as it will not be a very enjoyable gift if it has issues and spends weeks/months away being sorted.

Good luck, Chris

gah i know but he wants me to pick it out!!! i picked out the watch i got him for our wedding - that's part of the fun of it. he will love whatever i buy, i know it, but it has to be a watch that's quality - to your point, i don't want it to be a clunker that needs to get fixed constantly. the first watches i posted in this thread were serviced - at least that's what the seller told me. how can i know if he's telling the truth?? he seems to have positive reviews online...

There's always a premium buying from a shop like the one the OP linked to and you can certainly move some watches in NYC at almost any price, but if I could sell some of mine for the prices he's asking I'd be saying goodbye to a bunch of the watches I currently have.
