lol indeed, not the most liquid watch to sell.....
An I likely but possible explanation is that some few bidders recognized something particularly unique in this watch that most are missing?

It is definitely not the preferred forum for money laundering!

Auction houses have been implicated for a long time, it’s looking like NFTs are largely being used to launder money from illegal casinos now too

It makes me wonder what the value would be of the Speedmasters that were actually worn in space!

Ummm, something not right there - not the normal characteristics of money laundering or collecting. That dial is good, but not that good!

So the vintage market is not dead 😲😲, any chance the winner will bail out? I read that in some art auctions from China, bidders bid millions and winners never pay.

Or the greedy market has shifted their focus on Omega Speedies again when they are bored with Rolex/ Patek and wanna draw some attention.

Yeah, I’d thought Geneva’s and the EU’s AML laws were far more strict now precisely because of issues in prior years - but perhaps these prices are the contrary taste of the pudding!

In any number of contexts, in my experience, the Chinese have very different social norms around money and making payments due.

Can you illustrate another?

And with Xi tightening the screws on overtly showy corporate bosses, high likelihood Phillips will be left chasing the buyer.

I’ll be interested to see what the Octo Finissimo does, given the way these other prices are going

will I have again waited too long to pick up something before it’s market spikes 😵‍💫

I've said it before and I say it again: Phillips may sell all of my watches... Think I can retire once they are done
