Hi folks,

there was an Omega 2584-1 for sale at an auction house today which I was really interested in.

I had no pics of the bumper movement but the black dial, case and crystal were in very good condition.

The price of the watch went step and was hammered for almost EUR 4.000,- (incl buyers premium) which was more I was willed to spend.

What are your thoughts on the price?
Did anyone out of the OF get this beauty?

Best Duffy

It's a fair price for a very nice, uncommon watch.

@MSNWatch -

Can’t find any listing for Ref. 2584-1 with chronometer grade movement. Would this be a cal. 352 or 354?

Buckle is certainly not correct on what otherwise looks to be a NOS example.

Has my Spidey Sense tingling.

It's not how I would choose to spend 4000 Euros but if this type of watch is the focus of your collection, then you'd have to have it because you won't find another.

The listing states 354, though I would have guessed 352.

Update on 23 October 09.58 am: caseback sticker has been lost.
Something seems fishy here, and I don’t mean the crown on an IWC, either.

A friend asked me for my opinion on this one.
I said that I’d only seen smudgy lettering like this on redials, but that other aspects pointed in direction of a NOS example. A conundrum to me.

for that price, I would prefer something like a black pie pan dial 168.005 with BOR, box and paper.

I think the watch you are describing in the same condition would fetch at least twice the price of this one.
Between this particular watch and an average condition black dial pie pan 168.005 I would pick this one.

Look at the lugs. Looks like fixed bars. Ground to match the curve of the lugs. Never seen that before on that case style

Maybe the price due to the original factory sticker still on the back + black dial

But the sticker was “lost”?

I just don’t know about this one.

I noticed those bars too. Never saw that anywhere at all. But it looks good.
