In Geneva this November are a flock of 2915's, spread over three houses. Fun I bring them all together.
You can see all speedmasters reviewed at https://speedmaster101.com/

I have linked the pages in the lot numbers below. I am going to write the low estimate in USD including premium for a quick comparison.

First the Phillips 2915 discussed elsewhere on the forum
Lot 53 $108,8750

Two examples from Sothebys
Lot 35 $108,750

Lot 188 $47,500

Here are the three from Antiquorum:
Lot 260 $13,6250

Lot 261 $61,000

Lot 264 $68,750

What do we think of the bezels? Is there a genuine one here?

What about the lume plots - are some re lumed?

Why are auction houses still trying to sell expensive watches with such terrible photos, that most amateurs here on the forum can do better?

Remember links to the listings linked through the Lot number and full Geneva reviews on the blog at www.speedmaster101.com

Are these watches tracked by SN, the way collector cars are? If so, are there previous catalogue photos that can be used to compare changes over the years?

Thank you for bringing the details of these auctions together and pointing out some of the potential flaws.

Having read through your report I tend to agree with everything you’ve said. Whilst I’ve not had any experience dealing with either Sotheby’s or Antiquorum I would say that Phillips are very cautious about what they consign into their auction. They have a strong brand to protect and therefore are less likely to accept anything of a lesser quality compared to other auction houses.

Yes, there are several of us who track these. Surprisingly these are all new to my list.

Much like the Mercedes SSK, 2915s appear to be breeding over time. Every time I see one at an auction house I wonder how many of the bits on it I’ve seen before on eBay months earlier.

Yea there are a lot of Speedmasters doing that of late, early racing dials, vintage soyuz dials and some 321s too.
