LOt 153: 2nd Gen Space Compax, with GF bracelet, box & papers. Can't remember the last time I saw one of these offered at a major auction house. sold at CHF 22,500

Lot 177 was the most interesting of the bunch, a Jaeger-branded sandwich dial cal 285 chronograph with left-handed crown and pushers, presumably accomplished by rotating the movement 180 degrees, based on the inversion of the subdials (I'll bet the pushers are reversed in function). I've never seen anything like it, and this was IMO the UG buy of the sale, sold at CHF 18,750

Discuss, esp in light of the generally flat Heuer sale preceding this auction.

I totally agree with you LouS on that Jeager, a total gem and rarity, never seen anything like it before.
The Evil Nina and Spacecompax (as you pointed out a 2nd generation whereas Phillips wrongly described it as a 1st generation) probaly relatively strong results but given consitions (very very good) and especially box and papers I would say to be expected.

is the chrono hand on the evil nina correct ? it seems like it extends too far down and perhaps came from another UG watch ? i debated this with several dealers and got very different answers although all agreed that otherwise the watch was in outstanding / unpolished condition

I always regarded those long second sweepers as belonging to the Space Compax. It's not rare that they are found in V72 compaxes, though

I'd say the Evil Nina went for a very fair price, considering that it also comes with the GF bracelets with UW endlinks that has been trading quite well lately. Was eyeing on that Jaeger, one of a kind piece.

The handset seems appropriate, but short on the Jaeger. Minute track is of very little use. Is this not of too much concern?

Strong prices for both the Evil and Second Gen Spacey. The last second gen Space Compax, I know of. sold privately for 11k E. They have broken past this mark up until now.

You're right, but IMO the concern pales in comparison to the overall novelty of the piece
