·Hello OF. I've been a long time occasional reader here, figured it'd be a good idea to start an account, used to enjoy some forums back in the days.
I'm a web/software developer, mostly specialising on custom solutions for Shopify stores.
I began being interested in watches about 4 years ago, and after much reading on this forum purchased my 1st vintage watch, UG Polerouter ref. 869113-01. I also collect (and enjoy playing) vinyl records.
My current collection consists of:
- Universal Geneve Polerouter (869113-01)
- Kurono Mori
- Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph
and my current grail pieces I would one day like to get are:
- Omega Ranchero (either dial variant)
- JLC Memovox E855
- Cartier Basculante (mecahnical)
I look forward to participating here.

I initially thought about posting another thread, but decided to not spam the forums and ask for advice in this one.
My father has asked me to help him selling one of his watches. Unfortunately while I do read about the watches and enjoy wearing them, I am absolutely clueless when it comes to selling them, and would like some advice as to some of my options.
The watch in question is Michel Jordi piece, which he bought new in 2009. It has all the original box / papers, as well as a service certificate from a store in Switzerland from 2 or 3 years ago. Some photos below.
The way I see it, my options are:
- Contact an auction house (I assume they'd take a decent %)
- Post it on chrono24 (No idea about selling there really, but I've seen a number of franken watches & re-dials there, so sot sure if it's a good one for serious enthusiasts)
- Try to find a local watch dealer and see if I can sell it through them
What do you think would be the best approach for me, and also, what would be some good tips to avoid scammers etc. I know that people sell watches on reddit etc these days, but I am not sure that it's the best avenue to go down.
I would really appreciate any and all advice in this regard.
