Gaslighting in eBay listing (vintage Speedmaster content)

I really have not paid much attention to this seller in the past, but this listing caught my eye. It's obviously a total franken, with mis-matched dial, bezel, movement, and case-back. Newbies can use it to practice. The description in the listing is just incredible, completely full of blatant BS.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-1968...939692?hash=item2ad60f176c:g:VUsAAOSwzeddlLwW

The description itself is cringe-worthy, suggesting that the Omega factory installed a -74 case-back on a -68 transitional before sale to capitalize on the moon landing. Then look at the photos and you will be amazed. Where is the AML step-dial, the DON bezel? And then he has the nerve to claim that all the parts are original and that it is an heirloom piece. Given that it really only has value as parts, he prices it at 2x what it's worth and says "No offers are accepted. Priced to sell Fast." This dealer sells hundreds of watches and clearly presents himself as an expert. I know that eBay is full of crappy sellers, but it's hard not to be a little angry at something like this. Just a good lesson for new collectors that a 99.7% score on almost 2500 feedback does not guarantee anything.

This one is a crafty bullshitter... the only point where he trips himself up is his fourth bullet point, this is a blatant lie. Otherwise, this listing is carefully misleading, while staying true. Stay away from him!

Very good price for a rare "UNITS PER HOUR" bezel. 馃檮

Can you imagine how slowly the chrono hand must sweep? 馃槣

Interestingly the piece presents as a -74 or -76

it鈥檚 possible it鈥檚 all from a service. But it鈥檚 not all original parts as noted.

Bizarre to advertise it as a "step dial". Even in the title of the listing.

You have to wonder if it's ignorance or being purposely deceitful.

Well, given the detail the seller provides about the steel vs. plastic brake in the cal 861 movement, it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is unaware that the dial and bezel are completely wrong for a -68.

Good point.

At the end of the day, eBay has an awful lot of trash listed for sale. Here's a Navitimer that's listed as "all original" but just about every single thing is not original to the watch: wrong dial, wrong slide rule, all sub-dial hands are wrong, there's green goo on the repainted hands and the markers on the dial look like they've been painted with gold finger nail polish.

Dear god (or whatever deity you wish), what a freakin' crook! Purposely deceitful is right -- x 100.
