Between the 4 you listed, if your comfortable with manual winding then I would get the speedmaster, its a classic and will never age. Otherwise I would get the AT as it has the date function you want.

Down the line I would either get a breitling or a rolex GMT (explorer) if you want something for your son.
I would agree with a Rolex GMT if the Pilot son is eventually going to get it-it’s the classic “Pan-Am” watch, but a bit more money than the watches we are talking about here and far less discrete (very recognizable as a Rolex). But the GMT is another for which you don’t have to wait on a list as there are many on the used market and the ones from the 00’s pre-bloated case are nice values right now.

I can't believe this is on page 4. Have we become Watchuseek? What's next, a "does this make my wrist look small" thread? 😲

New air king now that it has lacquer black dial is a watch I find attractive; the older matt dial was not interesting to me. The new AT lacquer is beautiful too. Rolex bracelet wins, light play of the indices of the AT wins, and bracelet is very nice aside from the terrible aesthetics of the clasp micro adjust. It's mysterious to me how thoroughly they half assed that given how well they did the rest of the design.

Standard speedmaster is boring looking, not waterproof, not automatic. Not good first watch in my opinion.

For pilot watch aesthetic, check out brietling aerospace including latest orbiter

I’d like to update everyone on my GADA watch quest. I went with the Air King and have been wearing it daily for just over a month. It is very comfortable and under the radar due to its non bling nature. So far accuracy is superb but I’ll be keeping an eye on amplitude especially two years out as I have read that’s when issues tend to arise.
Shout out to JwRosenthal the watch is withstanding the rigours of the workplace.
Again thanks to the forum for your advice and if I get another watch the speedy will be top of the list.

Congrats on your new acquisition and glad you are wearing it as intended. Beat the shit out of it at work and make sure when you give it to your son there’s lots of caked up biohazard in the bracelet.

This would be my first luxury watch and I would wear it as a daily.
Congrats, now what to buy next??, natural choice is a speedy, maybe a diver. Welcome to the torture.

Don't forget you will also need a beater, then probably something else for vacation......

On and on it goes

Speaking of caked up biohazard...

All great choices, but in my experience, you only really know when you put it on the wrist.

I really, really wanted a Planet Ocean. Could no wait to try it on and buy it, no questions, no alternatives, no messing about. But as soon as I tried it on, it just didn't feel right. Ended up buying a SM 300 Co Axial, which I still have and still wear regularly.
