Hi omega friends,
This is my first post on the forum and I certainly have learned a lot from visiting the site.
I would like your opinions regarding choosing a one and only.
Some background: This would be my first luxury watch and I would wear it as a daily. I’m am almost 60 and generally wear casual clothing and scrubs at work. My wrist size is 7.5 inches.
Ideally, would like a watch with a date, display case back, and at least 100m WR. Some of the candidates are lacking in these criteria.

Watches I’m considering:
1. Rolex Air King
I’m on and eternal wait list (9 months) for this. My son is a commercial pilot so would be a good watch to pass down, I like the bracelet and interesting face.
2. Grand Seiko Lake Suwa 021
Love the accuracy of the movement and quality of the watch face. Lume would be nice and not sure about the no micro adjustment bracelet .
3. Aqua Terra 41mm black lacquer or teak face.
. Would likely wear on rubber strap. Lots of good qualities but not sure about the legibility of the lume and the teak deck face doesn’t appeal very much to me. Also, this watch is quite blingy. I would prefer a more understated watch.
4. Speedmaster 3861 sapphire
Doesn’t meet many of the criteria but this watch is special. Love the tool nature of this but not sure about water resistance, manual wind and lack of large seconds hand.

So which one!
Your opinions and thoughts are appreciated in advance.

Does the Cartier Santos have a display back?

It should feature high in any list of any luxury Gada watches

If you want a date, that eliminates two of them. Personally I don’t care, but if you want that feature, it would be a pretty big thing to give up.

You probably won't get a neutral answer to your question in a forum whose focus is on Omega watches. 😉
The recommendation here will certainly be an Omega. 👍

I understand that you just want a luxury watch that you wear every day, so this watch should be universal. I therefore understand your concerns about water resistance. I and most luxury watch owners would not go swimming or diving with their luxury watch regardless of the specified water resistance.
There is always a residual risk of water getting into the watch and damaging it. The seals of a watch weaken over time. The older the watch is, the higher the probability that water can penetrate. This is why you should never go swimming with vintage watches.
As you will (hopefully) be wearing this watch for many years, you must either have the water resistance checked regularly by a watchmaker before you go swimming with it. Or you should generally not go swimming with the watch.
I would therefore not rule out a watch with 50 m water resistance. The Omega website also states that watches with a water resistance of 50 meters (such as the Moonwatch) can actually be used in water depths of up to 50 meters. This means that you can theoretically go swimming with this watch.

To come to your question: If I had to choose just one watch, I would certainly go for the Moonwatch. Without question!
This is one of the most famous watches in the world with an incredible history! An absolute classic!
This watch is not only timeless and beautiful, it is also highly regarded by all watch collectors / watch connoisseurs!
it is sporty, it is elegant/dressy and therefore suits every occasion.
The Master Chronometer movement is beyond reproach.

I also bought the sapphire version. Not only because you can then admire the beautiful movement on the back, it is also absolutely scratch-resistant. This is an important requirement for a daily wearer. This model is therefore an excellent choice.

Another important point for you with this watch could be that it is an absolute strap monster! You can combine the watch with so many different straps! Leather, nato, stainless steel bracelet. This watch suits almost every color and every material.

Maybe a diff GS would sway me, but otherwise the Speedy. If you don't mind about used watches, that opens you up to many more options. Maybe a Seamaster 300...

Everyone's taste is unique, but I've honestly never met anyone who likes the Air King.

Uhhh,,,what?

I overlooked that. 😁
I have adjusted my posting slightly.
Thanks for the hint!

But most people here in the forum are probably here because of Omega, aren't they?

You have been here for nearly 2 years and "overlooked that"? 🤣

I think if you actually pay attention to the posts people here make instead of just making assumptions, you'll find we all have pretty diverse tastes. The is not a fanboy forum like Rolexforums is...

Some nice choices and i would like to add the Zenith Defy classic which meets all your requirements with date, lume and 100 mtr WR, display back with a great movement. I have one and it fits long or short sleeve, is not to shiny ( rolex ) with nicely chamfered links and you can add a rubber strap if you want. Titanium so airline approved ! A super daily but i give my Speedmasters plenty of time as well 😁.

Uh..what?
When someone can get banned on TRF for having a negative opinion against Rolex, the fanboy comment very much applies. @STANDY was banned just for having the username overpricedseiko. It has nothing to do with the variety of brand discussed over there.

You answered quicker than I did! Being a fanboy forum isn't about what subforums you have, but how fanatical people are about the brand. TRF is the biggest fanboy forum I've ever been on...

Firstly, I've been registered here in the forum for less than two years. Secondly, you can see from the number of posts I've made that I'm not as active here as some others during this period, so it's possible to overlook something like that.
Do I have to apologize for that?

I am interested in Omega watches.
That's why I didn't search the forum for other watch brands.

I don't know the TRF forum. I'm not that active in forums.
Shouldn't we return to the original topic of this thread?

I used the same example as Archer used. Both forums have discussions on a variety of brands. Seems to me someone using the username overpricedseiko on TRF is at the least goading the members, at at worst is trolling. If all Standy did was use that username, but was otherwise engaging the discussions in good faith, then he shouldn't have been banned. Folks have been banned from this forum when it becomes clear they're here just to troll. My experience at TRF has always been good. Are there some who are over the top about Rolex...yes. But I have seen plenty of threads praising other brands over Rolex, including many who prefer a Speedmaster over the Daytona.

There were 2 things that our friend said that I responded to. He stated that this was a 1 brand forum, and that is what showing the other brands was for, to correct this rather obvious factual error. This does not prove one way or another if it's a fanboy forum - you have to read it to know that.

The fanboy point I made was in response to him saying that the OP wouldn't get an unbiased opinion here, which I think you will agree is generally not the case. Sure we all like Omegas or we wouldn't be here, but people on this forum are not the type generally to suggest only Omegas every time someone asks what they should get.

The irony is that the guy warning of this bias gave an Omega as his answer to the question...😉

Ofan said "You probably won't get a neutral answer to your question in a forum whose focus is on Omega watches.", not that it was a 1 brand forum. But he did go on to say "The recommendation here will certainly be an Omega.", which is certainly not accurate. But your other points are well taken.

I still think the OP's best bet is the Air King, but hey, I'm a fanboy 😗

No - you are now reading his edited post, not what I originally responded to. His original reply is quoted as it was in my first reply to him, but I'll copy it here for you to read:

"You probably won't get a neutral answer to your question in a forum limited to one watch brand. 😉"

So he did in fact say it was a 1 brand forum. C'mon man...try to keep up... 😀

Mea culpa 👍
