Do it!

It's not in my budget at the moment. Plus the lack of lume on the minute hand is a deal breaker.

I don't need a lot of lume (I don't think I own a watch that I'd describe as having great line), but it needs to be better than that.

As others have said, all the Omega watches in summer blue are quite stunning in the flesh. Many congrats

Last year I bought the green Seamaster 300m and I love it. But few months ago I tried on the summer blue PO and I can confirm, proportions are so much better. Thickness isn’t an issue surprisingly.

Is there an Omega blue 19MM rubber band for the 39.5 MM PO ? Would think the SMP 20MM version could be made fit by shaving a bit of rubber on each side, but not sure if the shape of the band at the lug are the same on both models.

Great choice! It is an absolutely stunning watch in the flesh. Unfortunately for me, it looks like a shirt button on my 8.5 inch wrist. I envy those of you whose fit is proportional and I curse Omega for not having made it in 43.5mm.

In spite of that, I keep getting tempted to buy one and I have to look up the picture of it on my wrist to remind me that it's not for me.

As far as a rubber strap, I use the 21mm Aqua Terra Worldtimer strap on my 43.5mm PO and I previously used the 20mm strap of the 41mm AT on my old 42mm PO. They fit fine with the original spring bars. I know they make a 19mm strap for the 38.5 AT but I can't confirm whether it fits the smaller PO.

Update:

Same GADA, different watch.

Sold the Summer blue and bought the third edition PO. Still 39mm, but different dial. Really love the black ceramic dial.

Great watch, love the Summer Blue. Interested to see what sort of rubber straps it pairs well with.

How did you find it compared to the new Gen 4 in store?

Btw it’s still not an exit watch, you don’t get away that easily

I bought a Summer Blue PO a couple of months ago and it's absolutely my favorite dive watch of all time. It’s on the short list for being my favorite watch of all time but it has some stiff competition so the juries still out. Had a SMP300 blue, a black 43.5 PO, a black no date SMP300 and but the Summer Blue PO is so much nicer than any of them and it’s not even close.

The dial is stunning and the more I wear it the more I enjoy looking at it. Perfect size. The bracelet is comfortable and fits like a glove. I love the solid case back and 39.5 diameter. I also like that the watch is more brushed than polished. Especially the bracelet. I recently jumped on the Grand Seiko bandwagon and dials are one of GS’s strengths but the summer blue PO dial is better looking than all but one of my GS watch dials. As a bonus so far the accuracy has been a consistent +1spd. Only my spring drive GS can match it. As you can tell I’m a big fan of the Summer Blue PO. Just a great watch. Highly recommend.

I wasn’t a fan of the new PO and that didn’t change when I tried one on in the store. I liked the blue/black color combo but the case and bracelet were too angular for my tastes and way too shiny. I went in the store to decide in person whether or not my prejudice towards the new PO was justified. It was but in the process I got to see the Summer Blue PO and that was that. I traded my no date SMP300 on the spot and never looked back.

I didn't buy mine new and haven't actually seen the new PO, (although it's growing on me.)

At the time of the new PO release, I had started looking to buy another Summer Blue, after selling it in a fit of downsizing (it's my MO.)

So while I'm thinking about how great the Summer Blue was, up pops this new PO. Two things struck me: there was no 39mm, and the cost had gone up.

This gave my hunt a catalyst. While reviewing the 4th gen PO, I discovered that the 3rd gen had a black ceramic dial in 39mm, which I hadn't realized previously.

Your story about the LE liquid metal (https://stories.omegaforums.net/the-ultimate-planet-ocean-liquidmetal-1948-limited-edition/) had made me lust over this LE. I hadn't pulled the trigger mainly because of the cost, but it was rattling around in my brain. So when I saw the 39mm PO with a similar dial as the LE, that was a nice surprise.

As sometimes happens, at this exact moment my local watch shop got a 39mm black dial full set in for trade. I think it was $5200 and like new. So that was that.

Like I said, the new PO is growing on me. But I like the 39mm, even if it's a little thick. I don't feel the thickness, as it sits comfortably on my wrist. It's a screaming deal at pre-owned price and there are still like new ones available.

It's not my only watch, but I wear it almost exclusively, occasionally altering it with my new Speedmaster Apollo-soyuz 35th anniversary meterorite, which I also repurchased after previously owning and selling one (I sold it to partially pay for a retaining wall for my house.) I think the meterorite is the best speedy ever made, and I think the 39mm PO might be the best PO, black dial and Summer Blue.

A bit long- winded , but you asked. 😉

Ps. I like the 8800 movement in the 39mm vs the 8900 in the 43. But this is already too long so I'll leave it there.

I think the PO is too thick to be considered a GADA watch. I can't imagine wearing that under a dress shirt cuff or a sweater (or a jumper as the Brits call it).

Not saying it's a bad watch though. The Summer Blue is a stunner.

Here it is compared to a Speedmaster.

The PO sits tighter against my wrist due to the thinner caseback. The PO also had a flatter crystal.

Of course a Speedmaster may not be a dress shirt watch either, but the 39mm PO feels thinner than a Speedy and is much thinner than the 43mm PO.

Proof positive that so much more goes into a watch's wearing thickness versus it's on paper thickness...

Yep, and the same watch might not fit the same on different people. I've got a flat wrist with skinny bones, compared to @eugeneandresson who has arms like a gymnast.
