Seems like Sky News announced it either prematurely or incorrectly - had a news flash on my phone early this morning that they had cancelled the 2021 games, but the Japanese PM is denying these stories.

If they can safely be held I am quite looking forward to them, nothing to do with the watches, but a couple of weeks of Olympics is quite enjoyable to watch, I remember watching the 2000 games at an open air beach bar on the Yucatan Peninsula in the warm evenings whilst sipping cocktails and smoking some fantastic cigars - a lovely time and great memories.

How are you liking your Olympic Speedie anyway? Did you get it in Japan, through a boutique or Chrono? I've been debating as to whether or not I should invest in one of these or wait until Omega releases something new that I like that I can jump on early enough.

David as I have said on this thread before - I love my Red Tokyo Speedie - it really is a special piece - pretty unique due to the red bezel, to my knowledge there are only 2 other speedies with a red bezel and they are both Moonphases that are almost 8 and 10 times the cost due to being platinum - i love it, it is a great watch - i bought it just before Xmas so in Dec 2020 and it arrived just before NYE from Japan shipped to the UK and bought from a dealer in Tokyo on Chrono24 - pm me if you want anymore details.

a clear or see-through glass caseback may be a good option as replacement and keep the steel caseback in a safe.😁
How do you get these casebacks?

Try Thomas Preik. You can choose between a brushed one, or a fully polished one. They all come with the appropriate movement spacer.

Here it is on my basic, big-box generation Hesalite. The regular caseback's hippocampus + perimeter ring were painful on my wrist, and would leave red marks even after just 5 minutes of wearing it.

These casebacks from Thomas Preik are buttery smooth against the skin. A+ for comfort, compared to those sharp & scratchy OEM casebacks with engraving.

I had a love/hate relationship with my FOIS as well. i really like the look of the watch, but that caseback annoyed the hell out of me.

When i first bought the watch i realised the edge on the caseback was pretty sharp. So not only it left an imprint on my skin, it actually left some microscratches too. I brought it back to the AD after a few days, where the sales person also admitted that the caseback was unusually sharp and made the watchmaker smoothen the baseback (free of charge) for me.

After the edge was a bit softer, the watch surely didnt irritate the skin as much. nevertheless the profile of the caseback was enough to leave an imprint. My stap was not too tight, you can even see multiple rings from the watch moving on my hand.
It is possible that i have a sensitive skin. But i dont think i have any allergies (i even got tested in 2019).

It actually saddens me so much that a piece i really enjoyed wearing so much, allways felt uncomfortable.
To such an extent that i sold it last week.. i do miss it, but who knows what the future will bring, maybe one day the new EdWhite will lose in value, like half the price 😗 then i will get it 😁

Edit: couldnt cope with loss, so bought my FOIS back from the buyer 🤦 😁

Thanks @DNX for your feedback on Tokyo Red speedy. I got it delivered today from japan brand new. One should really see it to appreciate its classy dial combination. Its magnificent! I was planning to swap the bracelet with new 3861 before seeing the watch. Now, after seeing the watch in wrist, i dont want to change. The polished links goes well with applied indices. Very very attractive watch. !

Here are few. I tried to capture the dial in different lights. Tough to capture though. Only issue with the dial and hands is low light legibility not great. However it doesn’t bother me.😀

Jesus i only just saw this, that’s really, really bad. I guess you could stick a display back on it but Omega really should have known better than that.
I dont have that issue so far. But i would really like to swap with clear case back!
