Hello everyone

I had the chance to get this watch from the original owner years ago . It’s a JDM SEIKO 5 SPORTS Speed-Timer ! Original band has a seen better days ... have the bits but I currently put it on a Uncle Sekio prototype oyster bracelet as he was working on it when I was emailing him back and forth . I had at one point what was the eta of new bracelets and he told me it still a ways out but he had the prototype in hand and if I wanted that one I was welcome to buy it ... I did as the 18 mm lugs ( not really lugs but notches ...) made wearing it on a Std strap look weird ....

Only thing I replaced was the totally scratched up mineral crystal ! ( and the bracelet ). Everything else is original to the war h as it was bought in Japan .... I remember the instruction booklet years ago but that was lost back in the 80s in a desk draw.

And the reason I know this is how it left Japan is that my dad bought this himself while there for business ! Also why I remember the instruction booklet as well as a kid ....

Original owner !

Good Hunting

Bill

Are y'all kin to the Drew Carey family? Resemblance is striking if not.

Nice, great turntable. I had one with a Rega RB250. Now I'm an LP12 fanboy...😀

So your Dad was a hifi dealer? That's super cool.

Damn that is cool. My dad moved us to Japan for business 1970-72. When we left he bought some cool stuff since the company was paying for the move. An “egg” grill/bbq, hi fi stuff, including an excellent Sony reel-to-reel that I absconded with when I went to college. Even then it was a rather archaic curiosity in my dorm, but I loved it. You put foil on the tape at the very end, and it would switch and play back on the next two tracks. I could get 5 albums of Blondie, David Bowie and the Ramones et al on one tape.

Great photos, thanks!

PS the one thing he didn’t buy was a ‘72 Honda mini bike for me. Either a 50cc Monkey or the 70cc Dax (JDM) would’ve been a dream come true.

yes, he was a "Super- RCA Tube Distributor" and sold his business to Arrow Electronics in 69/70 .... and ran the consumer elec division.

We had a nice Kenwood KR-7200 system at home... Td-160 , tandberg tc-300 cassette.... bozak speakers... took it all to university...... was not top end stuff but was great for me hahahaha

Super cool...vintage stereo seems to finally be having its day...love the silver faced stuff. I'm a Britfi guy, Naim, Linn, and Rega...though I go Japanese for my secondary systems...
