My photography is horrible but I need your help giys and gals! A friend is swearing this is a redial. I bought it because every part of the dial was near flawless, all text was super crisp and perfectly aligned including the crosshair as well as the applied markers, star etc.

I'm hoping the professionals will weigh in here and prove me right 馃ぃ

I鈥檓 afraid your friend is correct.
Neatly done but 100% redial.

Constellations never have a broken cross hair.

If thats the case I have to find the painter, the lines are so fine and perfect and the text looks amazing!

As I said - neatly done.

I should add that there are a couple of other tell-tale signs that you might have considered that show the watch has been redialled.

I鈥檒l let others flex their sleuthing skills on those points.

You can further compare the placement of the minute hashes compared to a known original.

Well, I was hoping others would chime in - just for the fun of it - but:

1. The rounded edges of the pie pan facets
2. The dash marks either side of the SWISS MADE
3. The Constellation text is not correct - especially noticeable on the Ns.
4. The placement of the Constellation text - the vertical through the star should never bisect the E (sometimes get very close on a pie pan or even kiss the E but never bisect it)
5. The upper text isn鈥檛 serifed sufficiently and the AUTOMATIC lettering is squashed together - note the angles differences between the two Ms.
6. And finally, yes, the minute haches wander closer and further away in relation to the pie pan edge facets.

Hope that helps.

Once you鈥檝e looked at enough pie pans, you can鈥檛 have doubts on this one. The first thing that jumps out is the text being really big amd with a wrong font, and the crosshair stopping at the word constellation.

Yup, that was what i saw first; crosshair does not continue through the text.
For the very little that it's worth, I concur. It's been redialled. Relatively nicely though, compared to the majority of efforts it's not a shocker.

Not a bad redial, but the soft facets is an absolute deal breaker for me. It is THE defining feature of a pie-pan, so once it is gone...

Thanks everyone, I got it at an auction very cheap along with this cool constellation Jumbo so I'm not to worried, I'm too blind to pick up small details these days 馃ぃ馃ぃ

Once I reattach the 2 o'clock marker this two tone, crosshair, 37mm 1477-62 SC more than makes up for it 馃ぃ

Now that dial is correct - and it has a nice case.

I don't mind the "soft" piepans, its my first ever Jumbo constellation from this era and I love it!

Are you conflating responses to two comments here, or are you meaning the jumbo has a soft pie pan dial?

The jumbo is a two-tone dome dial - which, correctly, has the cross hair stretching to the edge of the dial on all four points.

Obvious redial, the printing is totally wrong.

Yeah, that jumbo has a great dial with a sharp facet, just its a round one 馃榾

The original piepan at the top is just sad because of how undefined the lines are.

My watchmaker calls these "soft" piepans because the dial resembles an actual piepan. He calls the true piepan dials "hard" piepans

Send your watchmaker here - we'll soon disavow him of his heresy.

That's just the point - there is no facet, only a painted line.
Its a dome dial all the way - with a paint job.

oh, woah! That isn't in the metal? Its just a difference in paint/texture? That is a neato effect!
