My Dad, who was 94 y.o., and worked as a NASA engineer for 35 years at Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, passed away peacefully 10 days ago.

We are beginning to look through his things now. I knew he had worn an Omega every day while at NASA but he had told me he lost it after he retired 30 years ago. Well, seems I just found it tonight.

From what I just researched quickly it is apparently a Day / Date Constellatiion, linen dial, stainless case with a gold capped face and a 14k gold bezel, ref. 168.029 with Cal. 751. Probably 1969 or 1970 vintage, which would coincide with the first moon landings, which he worked on.

Its appears to be in very good condition for its age . . . . original crystal, crown, and case back is nice. Some scratches but not terrible. I set the date and time and shook it and it is keeping perfect time. I know it has been sitting for decades.

Do not think I am going to service or polish it up yet. Time to find a nice band !!

Remember that the oil will be dry. So do not run it much or it will damage the bearings. One would not run a car without oil after 30 or 40 years.
If you do plan to use this a service is a must. Do not consider any polish to the case. Find a sympathetic watchmaker who can do the basic service.

My condolences on the loss of your Dad. Mine is 91. We celebrated his Sister's 99th birthday today. So many of the family is gone they are the only two left of their generation.

condolences for your loss. Wonderful heirloom. Advised not to send to Omega for service as they will replace parts which will significantly reduce its value. Best to find independent watchmaker with Omega parts account who will service so it’s wearable without replacing everything or polishing.
Are you in Maryland area? If so @gbesq or other regional members will recommend a watchmaker in your area.
I wear my fathers 1968 Constellation often and it gives great joy and I wish same to you!!

here are 2 overview YouTube for C case from OF member and C case constellation collector @kaplan - the first an intro review and the second specifically about bracelets. I think nice leather (black or chocolate pigskin) while you search for bracelet

Glad you were able to find the watch as something else to remember your father by. I've got a 752 day-date movement in the Omega I got from my dad, and it also keeps excellent time.

Condolences.

Lovely heirloom though. Once it’s had a crystal polish and a movement service (most collectors would strongly advise against polishing the case), there’s no reason this can’t be worn frequently

THANKS for all the condolences and advice. Very nice forum.
I've got a lot to do in his house ( including selling it ) before I get to this watch, but I will
service it and wear it eventually.

Here are two better pictures from this morning in my home, with better lighting . . . the ones I posted were in his dark bedroom.

Thanks again.
