Found an Omega watch

You're on holiday. It's your last day and - as @kkt said above - you're trying to cram everything in and time is tight. You're in a rush, you see a watch lying on the ground, you pick it up and put it in your pocket. No time to find out where the police station is let alone visit it. For all you know it may be a cheap quartz watch. OK perhaps you could give it to the hotel staff to pass on to the police but it's nothing to do with your hotel and how do you know they won't keep it? You forget all about it till you get home, then you have a good look at it, maybe show it to a friend. He / she tells you this is a real Omega and worth some serious bucks. You then think, hey, maybe I should do the right thing and try and trace it. So you ask politely on "the" specialist forum. And then your troubles start....

FFS! Why don't the honorable members here just cut the OP some slack? Talk about judge, jury and executioner!

OP sounds honorable.

for heavens sake, I would care more about getting the last run of the day in, THEN worry about someones lost watch that may or may not be special. What, I am supposed to drop everthing and run to the police station and hand in a watch?

So now the OP IS TRYING to get it back to the owner. In his own way.

To be honest with a watch this unusual, this forum might just be the best way to find the owner.

Or to buy it from him

Look I fully admit this is my issue. I just find it odd.

A call to the police statiobln, lost and found....That will be more useful.

I would not expect him to drop everything and run, just to drop his number at the station, lifts etc and then just sit back and wait....

I just don't get the process, thats all. What if I PM him and tell him it's mine....Sure, I'd be a douche, but is a public forum really the best vehicle for this.

Add the assertion that he "knows" it's authentic. How? Why is it relevant outside of the watch Comunity....Unless you're making a pitch.

Sorry, really, I don't mean to be an ass and my apologies to the OP for being on the receiving end of this doubts and rants but at the very least, please understand that this does have all the elements of a pitch

That might work, if you're psychic and know which resort OP was at and whereabouts on the slopes.

Fine, but that's not a reasoned refutation of what I said. Anyway I doubt we'll see the OP again after all the mud that's been slung at him / her.

Fair enough....I thought I would PM him and start a conversation trough email and learn his name and then look into his social media pages like facebook and Instagram along with his friends and family's until I could see vacation pics in Italy and make some notes and then reach out to him under a different alias and lay it down. I guess my internship at Wikileaks paid off.

Please don't be too offended, I am only joking. I fully understand as stated before that my doubts are my own and not based on anything the OP has said or done wrong.

I love the cynical nature of collectors and hobbyists

I see the Mars Shuttle has landed back safe and sound with her long lost crew.

Hi Jimbo, I missed you...feelsgoodman

Mars Shuttle??

in the 1960's everyone thought the year 2001 was gonna be like kubrick's 2001 Space Odyssey.

it's now 2017. no moonbases, just BLM, transitionals and fat chicks with septum rings... / feelsbadman

OK, this is a great looking watch but at issue is the dial. The Seamaster script does not appear correct. Any input would be appreciated.

I think the S should be more hooked shape, not rounded plus brand new dial with old hands.

Start a new thread, you have posted this in a thread talking about a watch found on a ski slope in Italy ?

( unless you also found this on the said ski slope - carry on )
