That model is effectively the same as what we are releasing. Are you wondering about fixed end lugs instead of spring loaded lugs?
Yep, exactly. I'm wonderng if you are going to do the fixed lug version (just curios, probably i'll go for the horn version 🙄🙄 )

Very happy, just ordered and paid for my short version. Will be used with one of my more modern Speedmaster.
A picture is always nice, my old watch with old bracelet

It’s a good idea and one I’ll look into. For now, the plan is to do the current version, with horned coming next. I have a couple other things in the pipeline as well but it’s probably too soon to start releasing specifics.

I wear my 1967 GMT on the JB Champion quite often. Pictures do not do the combination justice. Super light and a very unique retro look. I use Omega OEM spring bars with no issues.

That good sir is a great look!! 😀 Ok great to know about the Omega spring bars. I have a couple of 20mm Omega OEM at home. So now I just need @Forstnerbands to hurry up with the production and shipping 😁

The problem is that I don’t have a donor bracelet for the connectors/rivets that hold the end pieces into place. I considered welding them into place. That would undo its lug width adjustment properties but would make it more secure. I just dont have any equipment for small scale welding like that 😀 Oh well. Looks like I might get a brand new iteration soon 😀

It certainly does! How ever much I like the original I am looking forward to the increase from 15mm to 16mm in the width of the bracelet.

I have just placed a pre-order for two as well.

When the curved lug end variants are offered, I'm all in for one of those as well.

As a kid, I wore a JLC fitted with a Forster band which was given to me by my father. He had worn it for many years, and I then continued to wear it for many more years until it finally simply wore out. It was extraordinarily comfortable.

The updated of the design is simply very tasty, and the enlargement to fit the wider lugs is spot-on from where I sit. Bravo.

Regarding internal lug wear discussed earlier: Could die punched clear plastic discs in the shape of a small washer die cut from, say, .005 or .010" thick material used instead of an "o" ring? I imagine a satin finish on clear material may make them almost disappear.

Thanks very much, and love hearing the stories about folks’ history with these bracelets. I’m looking into options about o rings and such but your suggestion sounds like a good one.

Will there be a nod to the lowly and under represented Sears Tradition mesh?

I wonder how many of those bracelets on the wrists of astronauts were actually Sears purchased.

@Forstnerbands, a technical question: over the years, there has been some concern expressed about the edges of these type of bands exerting a scraping action on the inside of the lug faces, with long-term use.

One of our esteemed members, @TLIGuy, has worn his for years and notes no significant damage.

So the question is, have you dialed-in the external spring pressure on your new bands to be either equal to, or less than the originals, in an effort to minimize any possible excess wear to the lugs?

I'm starting a new company called, "Protect the inside lug surfaces of your Speedmaster.com."

Just kidding, but seriously, this should be a no-brainier, right? Why should there be any concern at all if the fix is so easy?

Those little black, mini-donuts are probably very effective, but let's be honest - not that attractive. So I've looked into micro-washers. They can't be that expensive to make. OD larger than the spring-loaded end (maybe even a bigger one for the horned-ends). ID so the spring bar can go through. Thickness? Thick enough to do the job, but most importantly, so thin they are unobstrusive whilst wearing. Material: Teflon? Brass? Stainless?

Delrin.
I have 60 year old Thorens turntables that use delrin washers in between high friction surfaces and as a thrust plate and they are still in use on my tables.

Mylar. Up to a couple of years ago I could have provided some samples to try (used to insulate the leads on electronic components).

Interesting. How about tiny, adhesive-backed Mylar washers that get affixed to the inside lug surfaces, around where the holes are drilled?
