It would be great if the new ones were offered with o-rings.

I think I brought up this concern a while back (because, logically...), and I recall @TLIGuy mentioning that he has worn his for years, without apparent gauges on the inside of the lugs. Either way, I have just pre-ordered a new modern Forstner band 馃憤

This is a common issue with any sort of spring loaded end link. The damage is most often seen on softer cases, like this one that is 18k gold:

However, stainless steel cases are also affected:

Since there is nothing on the end link to keep it from moving relative to the case (as there typically is with fixed style end links) the relative motion of the parts, plus the pressure from the spring will eventually damage the case.

I usually advise my customers to avoid this sort of spring loaded end link, and people here have developed various work arounds to protect the cases from damage, such as fitting O-rings between the end link and the case.

Cheers, Al

One thing I'm missing here is about adding lubrication. I've heard the reason why not to, is that it attracts dirt, and that creates a paste that is more abrasive than the original situation. Oddly, dirty bicycle chains don't seem to wear down aluminum chainwheel teeth as much as one would expect, given the dirty environment they live in. What about silicone lube?

I guess that depends on how much one cycles. I do it almost daily. And I end up replacing chains and gear-clusters on the rear wheel once every two years (gear-clusters require replacement because they wear to the chain, and when one simply replaces the chain, it slips on the old gear-clusters...which is painful, and can be dangerous, and so one replaces both at the same time). I recently replaced the big gears (that the pedals are attached to) last year...that was after more than a decade of using my bicycle as my primary means of transport. Not sure if this is any use to your question Bob, just my experience.

I must say, I don't like any of them. What do you guys think is so good about them? Are they really comfortable of something?

Comfortable yes. But cool a.f too.

Hello, can we pre-order the horned end version too?.

Hi there! The horned version is still in development but should be ready for pre-orders sometime this year.

I tried my Rolex spring bars on my vintage JB mesh and ended up breaking the bracelet ::facepalm1:: when the rivets that hold the endpiece together broke (expensive lesson learned: don鈥檛 force a fat spring bar into a hole not dimensioned for fat spring bars). I am reluctant to fit other spring bars on my Sub or GMT as I have yet to fint spring bars with the same tip width as the Rolex OEM. Most 20mm spring bars will slide around a bit in the lugholes.
O crap, sorry to hear about that 馃檨
But you had the bracelet with the springs or the fixed one (see attachment?)

@Forstnerbands Are you planning to reissue this model as well?

Question. The smaller size band fit wrist form 5.5 up what size. Since on my original the clasp is pretty much on the lugs, i was wondering if the short version might be a better fit?

My preorder email arrived just an hour or so ago. Still early enough for me to reserve 馃槑

That model is effectively the same as what we are releasing. Are you wondering about fixed end lugs instead of spring loaded lugs?

The close to lug look is our favorite 馃榾

Aside from that, the issue is primarily your hand size. If you have big hands, and the original length fits, it might be hard to get the short version on your wrist. If you have smaller wrists, and presumably smaller hands, the short version is the way to go.

Always wanted to try the JB on a vintage Sub or GMT

I wear my 1967 GMT on the JB Champion quite often. Pictures do not do the combination justice. Super light and a very unique retro look. I use Omega OEM spring bars with no issues.
