Is the side of the flat link bracelet that attaches at the "6" side of the watch supposed to have screws that can't be removed? I was able to take every link off my new Forstner 20mm flat link except for one single link where the two screws just spin around and don't come out.

They should be removable as well. Are you keeping the screw on one side fixed in place so it won’t spin? That’s the trick - there’s a video on our website.

Yes, I'm using the two red screwdrivers it came with and have one of them in a vice to hold it in place. I took all the screws on the entire bracelet out so I could resize it and put the spare links into little plastic bags then noticed the screws on this link just won't come out whatsoever and both endlessly spin (see pictures) it's the final link that actually lets you remove the screw. Weird! Must be a defective screw. Shoot me an email at [email protected] with your order number and I’ll send you a replacement.

Any chance of 14k gold plate to match 50s Omega? I saw an original Omega much like the new beads of rice on a 2627 Seamaster and it was nice.

What micro adjustment hole are the people here with the flat-link bracelet using? I can't really work out if I'm supposed to have it sized so it's on the tightest clasp hole and I can extend it four holes out if want to, or if it's supposed to be on the second to last or very last micro adjustment hole so that it can't be extended any further.

The original Omega bracelet I had before this only had two clasp holes and you were either as far out as it could go, or you could adjust it one notch out in the summer etc.

I keep mine on the last adjustment. And I never adjust it though.

If I recall, you want to have the watch/clasp balanced, and the micro adjustment helped me achieve that. I think the rule of thumb is when un clasped, and when holding the dial horizontal, one of the pieces that fold over should be hanging horizontal as well. There’s a post on watch balance.

I’m using their BoR on my Patek 3574, and I have to say it’s really nice - great quality. It was a bit of a pain in the @ss to re-size though, would have been easier if I had a vice handy ...

Personally, I prefer using the second to last micro hole and taking off the extra links always balancing the clasp

Nice, what is your wrist size and what length band did you get?

Thanks. My wrist size is 8 inches and I got the "Original" length directly from the Forstner. That's their longer version.

I recently contacted Forstner support and they told me the Flat link will not fit a 2998.5. They are correct, as the lugs on my 2998 are less than 19mm.
To cut a long story short I filed the sels down very carefully. Using a digital caliper I made them fit. When you can get the sels between the lugs you need a little more gap as you can't maneuver the spring bars until there is a tiny clearance between lug and sel.
Interestingly the lug widths on the 2998.5 were not equal.
In fact the profile of the sels matches the lugs of the 2998 better than on my SM300.
I am very pleased with the result , if you don't feel confident to do this yourself any good jeweler or watchmaker can do with ease.

    Morning all,

Apologies for a bit of a tangent but my question isn’t worth starting a new thread and I suspect the answer lies amongst the expertise here; in summary I have a Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial, and I am extremely taken by the Forstner Klip. On that basis I have a number of observations:

    i. This is my only watch, so anything I do, I do it wearing my 300MC.

ii. I have a fairly active job. I’m not an oil rig worker or similar but I may be compelled to wave my arms around fairly briskly at times.

iii. Like, I suspect, many on here I’m fairly OCD about watch strap security. My thoughts are, if the originals were robust enough for NASA, then the 21st Century version should be on the ball.

My (very tedious and circuitous) question is; does the fora have any qualms about the clasp gripping the bracelet once fitted correctly? I’m on the verge of getting one, I just need that little bit of reassurance.

    many thanks all,

    Ian.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Forstner JB Komfit mesh bracelet? NASA actually selected that bracelet because it was weaker than the standard Omega bracelets, not stronger. It was so that if it got snagged on something then the astronaut could simply snap it off their wrist. NASA would rather lose a watch than lose an astronaut's arm or life.

Just wanted to jump in and say that I had an uncle seiko flat link on my speedy and now have a Forstner flat link.
I prefer the Forstner for comfort, the elastic in the links makes a big difference. Excellent job, very happy customer.

I just received my Forstner BOR and a Rivet bracelet. They are now on a 71 GMT and a Gilt 5513.
    Very pleased with the result.
Rolex can keep their overpriced and unavailable "jump through hoops" bracelets.
