Various things. If I'm going to mod something I want it to be clear it's not pretending to be some factory LE etc. Also I think its a great clean combo and it's like the ying to the standard moonwatch yang

It's a good way of looking at it actually. I had modded a Mitsukoshi thinking it would remove that itch to acquire one, but in the end I sold it because it didn't. Your reasoning may just be a better approach to the mod speedy.

Maybe I will try US endlinks in the future because they should be a little flatter. The Forstner end links are slightly above the horns.

I wish the Uncle Seiko end links fit mine but they just didn't.

Had the same problem.

The only way I could get the Uncle Seiko Flatlink bracelet to fit on any of my Speedies was to use the solid end links from a Forstner Flatlink bracelet! As for the Forstner end links being too high and showing above the tops of the lugs, it depends which Speedy model.

my flat link review:

as member Caliber561 notes the clasps micro adjustment holes on mine are also uneven, not as severe as theirs and i didnt notice till seeing their post but are clearly uneven. thankfully mine are not as bad to bother me

also had the issue of one sides first link not articulating. this can be solved by using a thinner spring bar. this also makes swapping the bracelet on and off much easier. i ended up going down to a 1.2mm thick for the extra rattling goodness

as for the stretch links, my concern is longevity of them. the first flat link i had had a defective stretch link that came apart. Fostner send me a replacement that day (very happy with the customer service) and the new bracelet as been holding up great

despite those (minor) issues this bracelet is fantastic. personally ive never been a fan of bracelets but this one has changed that. the value for the price is incredible. ive been putting it though its paces on my FOIS+ for a few weeks and looking forward to many years of daily use

IMHO, that's too thin on a Speedmaster on a flatlink bracelet! Forget the rattling goodness.

That's a really nice watch you have there, btw.

is that really a concern? the bars are not under much stress with the solid end links. the force needed to bend a spring bar, even one this thin, is fairly high
not saying you are wrong. more asking if its based on experience? or expectations

You would be amazed how spring bars bend over time, even a 1.8mm one let alone .....

I like the look but I can’t seem to make the micro-adjust work...anyone else having that issue? If I do anything other than all the way out - the bracelet won’t clasp...almost like the clasp is too narrow to cover the links hidden underneath. Let me know if it’s only me - and if not - then what is the fix! Thank you much

From which side of the clasp are you shortening?
Pics with the clasp opened would help more.

@ldublz are you sure you have the outer clasp cover fitted the correct way around, it looks odd to me, almost as if it is on backwards. It should look like this: -

adjust it from the other end, the end that 'clicks in' must always be in the out most position. do the micro adjusting on the stretchy link side of the clasp

Thanks guys - was adjusting from wrong end. ‍♂️

I think it looks and fits great! Cheers! Maybe next time I’ll have less scotch during my bracelet fitting efforts! ‍♂️

By the way-customer support from Forstner DM’d me back right away. Much appreciated.

Received mine today. Looks great and feels comfortable. I only expected more weight.

Second, one of the bracelet's end links doesn't let the bracelet articulate around it, which causes it to flare out rather than drop back. I think another member mentioned this in an earlier post.

Yep, I had this precise issue. Plus I have links “grinding” instead of smoothly articulating.

Forstner says this (how that first inner link moves against the end link) is by design; I used 1.5mm spring bars on mine (instead of the supplied 1.8mm bars) and it freely articulates.
