Can't read the article as it is blacked out. What is the main gist?
Rolex fanboy hating the fact that another watch is mentioned on Instagram.

He says it’s too big and manual wind is old tech.

That's good. Big size means legible and I like old tech.

I stopped giving the writer any serious consideration after the following paragraph:

The movement inside the Moonwatch is a work of art, but it's big, and it's manual wind. I can understand the idea of retaining the original historical aspects of this movement but it would be nice to see some kind of improvements that would allow it to fit in a slimmer smaller case size.

I've seen iterations of the 1861 / Lemania 1873 inside watches with as small as 34mm diameter - it's the speedy aesthetics that result in a larger watch (after adding in the spacer ring), not the movement itself.

Good. Perhaps the prices will drop down to sane levels.

Not that it matters I already have one.

So the author is characterizing the Speedmaster as "old tech" and the standard of comparison is Rolex -- a manufacturer that most recently gave us the palm fronds dial and which has a well deserved reputation for technological innovatiion at a slightly slower pace than Earth's Ice Age? Well ok then . . .

“With that said though, Omega's flagship watch would be so much easier to love if it wasn't forced upon us in the way they've been doing. They appear to be pushing it to the masses but at the same time driving away dedicated and passionate watch collectors.”

That sentence threw me as well. But there are those persistent rumors that many poor souls have been forced to buy the new Speedmaster at gunpoint. 😲 And driving away collectors? How is Swatch Omega doing that exactly? By refusing to supply parts for my 1969 Speedmaster? Oh wait, they continue to do that for their vintage models unlike, for example, Rolex. 😕 Who IS this author?

Forbes used to be a great business magazine when it was run by Malcolm Forbes, the Harley Davidson riding, hot air balloon piloting, Carl Faberge collecting owner of said magazine. It was known as the Capitalist Tool, but he died in 1990. Since then it's been a long slide into a pretty mediocre enterprise owned by various conglomerates over the past couple of decades. As far as the article is concerned it's typical provocative watch pablum written for people who know nothing about the subject at hand. The author, Matthew Catellier, says he is a UK based watch guy whose full time job is in the watch trade. He has about 5 years experience and has a blog www.watchreviewblog.com that appears to cover entry level watches. And he has a Rolex Daytona 116500LN with black dial! Forgettable article and a waste of five minutes of my life.

They let anyone write an article on the internet these days.
Most of the crap he complained about was the stuff I find appealing about the Speedy 😕

One guy's opinion, big deal. Both Omega and Rolex, as well as many other brands, make great watches.

I didn’t read it but I love manual winds and the large readable dial.

This is the same as my Subaru WRX. The “Cons” are always that it has a stiff suspension and it’s loud. Those are two Pros for why anyone buys a WRX.

Obviously hasn’t seen the billboard sides of a Tudor watch 🤦

Pretty much all mechanical watches are old tech 😬
