I see all the angst and who ha over Limited Editions time after time and it’s the Good old Speedmaster Moon watch that has been like the loyal dog for over 7 years for me.

I made the decision to go modern years ago due to living in the tropics and having several months of rainy season each year.

I have worn out 5 straps and nearly lost it over the side of a bulk carrier. Scratched it, bumped it, swam with it and it’s never missed a beat. Wear it everyday at work and it’s on its way to being a vintage watch made by me.....

This is the STANDY LE

Two of the first straps I had it on and are long worn out both of them.

Still have the right one below

Nearly one of the last straps I had it on. So close to loosing it this day.

The replacement after above issue

Starting to wear in same strap as above.

Got a trip to Japan

Exceptional and one-of-a-kind!

I know you’ll never sell it, but if you did no doubt it would fetch a multiple of the famed Standy “Australian” Seiko. 👍

Well put, sir. This is the way it should go. Limited editions are cool and all, but everytime I put my speedy on, I think of all the neat occasions for which I've worn it. Weddings, holiday parties, conventions, etc.

Makes it personal to the wearer and that's the whole point. For me anyway.

So nice. This is how is supposed to be!
A beautiful timepiece telling YOUR story with character, year after year.
What an iconic watch.

This is a proper thread! Thank you for the pics.

Zero chance anyone has a connection like you do to whatever piece of disposable consumer electronics they have on their wrist. I'm glad this piece speaks to you.

I feel the same way about my Dad's beat up E150 conversion van. A bit of an eye sore in the driveway, but it will be awhile (if ever) before I'm ready to let her go.

Hah I knew this thread would be exactly this.
Also, I know there has been a lot of talk about "custom user titles" but I really do think you should consider changing yours to the below...

Poly watch is for pussies

Myself, on the other hand, has a bulk supply lol.

Poly watch is for pussies

I've done some pretty wild stuff over the years, but I've never put Poly watch on a... an... *cough*...

When my Speedmaster gets too distractingly scratched up, I use toothpaste with good results. And toothpaste doesn't say anywhere on the tube that it strictly isn't for ... *cough*... ( cat emoji ) -

As long as it's not a surprise, I guess?

Off topic, but it made me chuckle that your stated as being a “schizophrenic pizza orderer” and you get this advert immediately after.

Love this thread,

and I agree with OP. Vintage watches may be interesting, but they only tell a story from a different person. Now I get that in some way, but I'm kinda into creating my own story with watches. Got a Speedy Pro as a gift from my parents, been trough some of my nicest and worst moments in my life, and I plan to wear the hell of it even more. It's scrached, bumped, and nicked, but loved at the same time.

Watches are made to be worn. So bring those Zombies up, I'm ready!!!

I’ve owned this one for 32 years. The first model of Speedmaster with a sapphire back. May have worn it for one year over that span of time. Sorry! I’m a Rolex guy!
