I got lucky with my speakers that are ported out the back; if you put them in just the right distance from the rear wall you get some resonance that increases the bass on the low end.

These speakers were designed decades ago to be Quad ESL killers, and they're darn close but that was the ESL 63; I bet the newest Quads are even better!

Waste of money if you can get binaural to work for yourself.

CES, Las Vegas - The Audiophile Voice's Arnis Balgalvis said, "Ralph Glasgal's presentation was ear-opening. What he managed to accomplish from two very closely placed speakers was to create a very refined soundspace that extended way beyond the outside of these closely positioned speakers. I sat there astonished. Switched back to normal, the soundstage contracted into the two speakers with just about nothing in the way of soundstage width."

Twas me that dunnit for Ralph..

And here is a sound track, and image, to go with my watch pictures (same spot). Made with a plaster cast of my own head, plus some extra magic. It won't image as well as it does for me, unless you have the same head. It can sill be quite interesting for others, on headphones, or even a decent hi-fi system.

all of those amps along the floor are on dedicate 220amp panels, behind some “magic” black box that cleans the unicorn sparkles out of the electricity

the cables were trussed up in some manner

Unicorn Sparkles - now there’s a great name for a band 😁

funny you asked, because my friend specifically mentioned something along the lines of “now, you’ll of course hear base notes, but you won’t know these subs are there - unless I turned them off.”

i didn’t ask him to turn them off 😀
ok, good sign that he integrated those subs into the room -- usually a difficult task to accomplish....

Used to have some serious hifi gear, ME pre and power amps and a set of Krix flagships modified by their engineer… these days I pretty much only get to ‘listen’ in my car and home office, so a set of KEF LSX does the job well enough

Had one of my Energy Veritas speakers let go and seems to have taken out my ancient Pioneer receiver. Upon tear down I figured out what happened. The lock washers somehow wore through and shorted out. A little electrical tape and the speaker seems to be good again. Interesting mounting, the woofer is held in by a through bolt. Not remembering how the woofer was aligned, I looked at the other speaker. Horror of horrors the speaker had a misaligned bezel. Thanks Omegaforums for igniting OCD for bezel alignment.

Room is sounding great!

Nice system! I enjoyed a pair of Harbeth 30.1 for some years.

I see lots of hard surfaces there - are you using any room treatments?

I thought I was going to need treatments, but my ceiling design does a great job of breaking up standing waves. The lounge in my office echoes like crazy and I treated the ceiling and the wall behind he speakers to great effect.

I totally agree with effect those ceiling beams have. I have a coffered ceiling in my home theatre works well breaking up standing reflections.

Just added the Auralic Aries G1 streamer to my system; a marked improvement to the Audiolab 6000N

I got a kenwood ka-7100 for a song. Look a bit rough, but “working “ so sound was coming.out and the wood cabinet was included. I took it home for a nice cleaning, some testing. Will be fully restored next year, most likely other projects in front. Photos after the obligatory inspection cleaning.

My setup falls well short of most posts but here’s a vintage Westinghouse record console that I picked up recently. The high fidelity stereo is connected to the original speakers. I replaced the non functioning turntable with a modern turntable and connected it to a new speaker that I was able to fit in the console.

Nice retrofit. I had a friend who bought a Braun stereo console from the early 60’s and helped him restore it. When we dropped the needle on the record player for the first time, we were shocked at how good it sounded- truly the dawn of hifi. There was actually a great image and great dynamics- the whole house filled with music as it was fairly Omni-directional. I could be happy with that as my living room/entertaining stereo.
