I was born in 1958. If only my parents had purchased four or five sets of the original trilogy watches the year before and then a dozen Rancheros for me for my first birthday. What were they thinking? Probably about idiotic stuff like diapers, baby formula and housing. I'm still mad . . . 馃榿

great thread!
I'm falling back in love with my 2990 going a little paranoid about the radiation from the Radium dial.... A while back, I made the mistake of buying a Geiger counter and initially the 5碌Sv/hr made me not want to wear it, but after I did a little research, turns out that 5碌Sv is quite low. A chest x-ray is 0.1mSv (milli, mind you, not micro).
I think this is one of the most attractive dials and watches all together that Omega every produced and it will likely stay in my collection longer than my Railmaster 60th, which is kind of ironic as I sold my previous 2990 to help purchase the 2017 Railmaster Trilogy. Well, even with it's vintage pitfalls, it's really tough to beat....

By the way, the 2990 pictured on the left in the photo from the Omega AJTT book has a repainted dial, aftermarket hands and the incorrect winding crown. It always really bugged me that they didn't use an all original example for this reference in this the "Omega bible"....::facepalm1::

Yes, I noticed this as well and even more surprising is that the Omega Museum sent this to me in response to my request for more information on the Ranchero models! Like the other owners on this thread, I love mine. Not just a great looking watch, but the case just wears SO well on the wrist.

One of the less common versions. Maybe even "rare" 馃榾

Yes, quite rare. Waffle dial and gold plated (not gold capped) if I recall correctly? I have a Seachero with a similar looking non-textured dial, but no numeric markers, and with a stainless steel case.

This one is a steel case.

Thanks for the correction. It was difficult for me to tell from the photos.
