Ok, OF vintage bracelet experts, what are my options for a beads of rice bracelet for a 1958 Ranchero 2990? I know that an early flat link is the recommended bracelet, but I already have a flat link 1175/640 on my ‘71 Speedmaster and I want something different for my Ranchero. I’m thinking maybe a 1036 BOR. Would that work and, if so, with which end links? Thanks!

I’d say No.11 end links would be the best bet.

1036 with no. 11 end links. Looks authentic to me, but would appreciate a second, third, fourth, etc. set of eyes. Opinions?

I have used 1502/11 on mine, think 1036 is a newer bracelet, but not sure

I believe that the 1036 was introduced in 1968. Not sure about the 1502.

Are you looking for “fits” or period correct?

Fits. Don’t want a flat link. It there’s a period correct 5 row BOR, that would work.

Well, the 11/12 endlinks are the earliest for the 5-row, the 511-512 are the same just with the newer number. The clasp model number is what will tell of which era. Plus the folded over end like shown above is also early as the later ones aren’t folded.

Right. For all of those reasons I thought that a 1036/11 would be a good candidate.

If you want "fits" then get the 3010/511 direct from Omega for $450. Brand new!

That extra "lip" on the top of the #11 is not on the modern 511, and because of that, it might fit better?

Edited to add: 512 might actually be better, those lugs don't seem to curve?

Good to know. Thanks, Tom. The 3010 is 18mm and includes a pair of the 511’s?

Interesting. I’ve wondered the same thing for my Ranchero. I have a flat link on it now, but have considered locating the period correct BoR.

Do you mind letting us know what you do find?

I have one (came on a watch I sold), it’s a nice bracelet.

Will do. I’ve been considering a 1036 with number 11 end links (see above photos), but now SkunkPrince has me thinking about the modern 3010.

1502, 1036 and 3010 are basically the same bracelet - just iterations from different decades, 1502 being the oldest. Personally, I don’t see the reason why one would spend that money on a 3010 when you can have a really, really nice 1502 for significantly less and even stay period correct without any drawbacks. But there’s no right or wrong here really.

I agree about period correct, but to Tom’s point, if you really want a factory one without sifting through over polished, stretched-out, beaten with crimped in wrong links and broken pins that’s 5” long- you can walk into an OB and order one today

When did the 1502 start to be produced? Was it as early as in the 50’s really? Because I’m guessing OPs Ranchero is produced -58 or something?

I have one of those glide lock clasp BOR that is not market with any reference number or date and I thought them was produced late 50’s or something.

Completely agree with @MtV point, with a little patience you should be able to find a good vintage BOR with correct ends for 250-300EUR.

And also looks better IMO than a new made bracelet without any wear on a 65 years old sports watch
