This jumbo Tudor day date checks all of your boxes:

A bonus is that it will come in at the low end of your range or less😉

At 38mm it would indeed most likely have to be a tool watch / chronograph or diver. The so called “jumbo” three handers aren’t so easy to find.

Seamaster 60 big crown
Possibly a bit small for the OP? I could measure mine but here it is (on the right😁). Great watch as well.

This one could fit the bill- Longines skin diver reedition from Basel world 2018. $2600-42mm case. Need to try it on because it has long lugs making it large on a 7” wrist.
(lug-to-lug length is 52.55mm.)

It's a very nice watch though...😁
Yes, very nice indeed. Bezel outer diameter is 37mm though. Nice cal 565 in these and the 166.073 I mentioned (plus the SM120 autos) but the 166.073 is quite a bit bigger - similar to a 166.024.

I'd say the SM60 would be within $3k on a bracelet in good condition. Not sure about the prices of these though.

Cheers, Chris

All these examples are very nice. Thanks to all for taking a minute or two and putting these forth.

Now the real $64 question, where to buy at...........

Did you decide on what you're after?

There is only one kind of watch to buy: a SPEEDMASTER!

😜
I surprised there was only one suggestion for the Speedmaster. This gets my vote.

Apart from me throwing in a cal 1040 as a joke, the OP didn't want any other complications than a sweep seconds and day (or day/date) and, most people were sticking to that. I don't really think he wants a chronograph.

Cheers, Chris
