Right now until 12/19, using the code CHEER4103 for 15% off, it can be had at large, US AD Tourneau for $4505. Also, Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is offering $500 off any Tourneau purchase of $2000 or more, so that can knock it down to $4005. Unfortunately, I have to pay NY state sales tax, which adds 8% to the bill.
Also, that price includes free 2 day shipping in the US.

Mine arrived today. This beauty has eluded me for a long time, but this thread made decide to pull the trigger, before all the new stock is gone.

My brother just picked his up from a UK store, immaculate timing. Comparing it to my ‘79 Speedy.

Canada. Just cross-country for now and whatever's open at the base of the mountain. Not much, I expect.

Out of Stock

Not surprised, that was a good price. They probably had a few to sell, probably not aware of their discontinued status when the ad was made.

Signet Group (owners of Ernest Jones) are not stupid and in fact operate several Omega Boutiques in the UK so I would suggest they knew exactly what they were doing. They are also the parent of Sterling in the US so have a fair bit of reach and clout.

If they are as smart as you claim then it was a bait and switch technique (illegal in the US but maybe not in the UK); offer something to the public knowing that it was unable to fulfill the orders. Frankly I'd prefer them to be unaware of the FOIS status then to know they were trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting clients.

UK posters always say that deposits can't be taken unless they are assured of fulfilling the orders, but somehow it's ok to advertise a product that the public won't be able to obtain from them.

I am not sure I understand your point. How exactly was it bait and switch? They offered the watch at a reduced price and sold the stock they had allocated for the sale, then marked it up as out of stock when they either had no more stock, or wanted to sell the remainder at a higher price. Its perfectly normal and legal AFAIK to do this in any jurisdiction. You do realise that they hold stock centrally, so would be able to satisfy orders that way? It is now marked OOS, there is no deception being practiced here that I can see. Watches were sold, I have seen this discussed elsewhere.

As I say, Signet actually operate Omega boutiques so the interesting question is if they are actually shifting Boutique stock at a discount, something that isn't done normally in the UK. My earlier point was that to assume they are unaware that it is discontinued is unrealistic.

Still available, was able to add to cart.

Yep, you can add it to your cart, but you’ll get the following message when you try to check out (at least, I do):

  • The following sku(s) 9552200 are out of stock and has to be removed

That happens all the time when I try to buy clothes on sale. The inventory system updates faster than the website so checkout blocks the purchase. When I used to shop at Brooks Brothers online, the website was notorious for doing this.

They've taken my money and given me a delivery date of the 29th December. I'll let you know if it arrives. Fingers crossed.
