According to my AD he can't place orders on the model anymore. He says it most probably has been discontinued by Omega.

That's been the rumour lately, possibly so. But in stock on US site today.

I was in a Boutique on the weekend, in the U.K. They didn’t have one in stock and couldn’t get one.

I believe they aren’t going to produce any more 1861 movements and once the stock is gone they’ll move on to the new movements.

I don’t know any of this firsthand but it seems to be what a lot of ADs and boutiques are saying.

I have been undecided over the FOIS and the Moonwatch Hesalite or Sapphire for so long now that it is unreal - cant decide which to buy, that has now been going on so long that the RRP's have gone up during my decision making or lack of, and it looks like all 3 are up to be discontinued - I will try to go pick one up in the next few days before its too late - but still unsure which of the 3 I want...any help would be most appreciated.

That’s tough, as they are sufficiently different (well at least to us Omega Fans). My advice - buy an FOIS as a late/early birthday present and a hesalite Moonwatch as a Christmas present to yourself (or better still persuade some else to). Wear one on leather and the other on steel and you won’t regret it 😀

I'd suggest the hesalite. With the move towards 3861 (rumours), 1861 with hesalite would be the last manual wind of its kind.
My argument against FOIS is that sooner or latter I think Omega would make a more 'accurate' reissue of the 2998.

My AD (Canada) advised in September that they were no longer able to bring in the FOIS. They could still order the Speedy Pro at that point and may still be able to -- not sure.

Mine is still in heavy rotation. Marvellous blend of utility and beauty, very comfortable and relatively easy to wind. Great, great piece.

The watch is no longer on sale on the Italian English and German official website stores. Only on the USA one and i was told until stock lasts.

I would say get the FOIS now since no one knows if there will be an updated version. The Moonwatch will be updated in 2021.

That's quite the watch buying spree. I love it!

Get a FOIS now and join the over 15,000 others who have that watch. People get all wound up about a 3,000 or 4,000 piece limited edition as being overproduced, but are wild to get in on a 15,000+ piece edition. Crazy hobby.

This is what was communicated to the Dutch dealer network yesterday.

I stopped by my local OB shortly before the pandemic started and a sales associate told me the FOIS was being discontinued this year.

I own both FOIS & Speedy Pro with hesalite.
I love them both....

If i had to choose only one between them, i'm sure i couldn't choose...

But....I think that the Fois fits better on my wrist...

I stopped by 5th Ave a week or two ago and it's a bit murky, but it sounds like production is nearing the end. Maybe next year

I've had more watches and less watches. More is better 😀

I don't have a FOIS, 1861 hesalite or a sapphire sandwich 🙁

I started with a 3861 A11 50th and I'm on the knock list for a 3861 Silver Snoopy 50th, I may just wait and save up for a standard 3861 Moonwatch to complete my trio 😁

There endeth my Speedmaster spending spree.

FOIS are pretty much out of stock in Australia. Called a few ADs and they either don’t have any or sold their last one within the week.
