FOIS discontinued.

I reckon there will be a few Sedna gold FOIS hanging around - but for that $$$ you could get an Ed White.

I was to-ing and fro-ing between the hesalite Speedy and the FOIS, in the end the FOIS was a bit too dressy and as noted above at certain angles the time is hard to read. So the Pro won out and I’ve worn it pretty much every day for the last 3 years 😁

The Sedna Gold version is a true beauty!!

I've been a lurker here for years. I've had a couple Omega's in the past but never a speedmaster, I could never decide which to buy. Deep down inside I think I always favored the looks of the FOIS but was always too tempted by the history of the moonwatch and a few of the limited editions (ST1, 60th, etc.). I finally decided that the FOIS was the perfect speedy to become my first, this was before I read that they are discontinued. But fortunately I was able to find one at a local AD this past weekend and bought my first speedmaster at a decent discount. Now I have to decide which bracelet to pair it with...

Congrats!

I paired mine with the 1125/617 combo. It really lends well to the vintage-vibe of the timepiece. 😀

When I was at the AD on Saturday he showed me their last FOIS and said no more would be available. I wonder what number it was? Have to go back this week to pickup some paperwork so might check just to satisfy my curiosity...
Popped back in and checked the last FOIS in stock - serial number was around 7500. Bit strange if the numbered run was 15,000.😕

They also still seem to be on eBay for around £3-3.5k, I picked up a full set on a whim for just under £3k earlier this week... been wearing it every day so far:

The FOIS is actually a numbered edition and not a limited edition. I think they made it for what, 8+ years? In recent watch collecting madness the amount of watches produced seems to have little value on prices. Rolex probably made 500,000 “hulks” and the value is through the roof based on crazy speculation. My JLC Deep Sea Memovox is one of 392 watches produced and is selling for 10% more than it did new but the value isn’t an issue for me because I like wearing the watch.

Thats a great combo, I love the vintage look. I am also a fan of the Forstner flat link with polished outer links. I might have to get both.

I got mine last week and its 148XX (in the UK) and someone I think on here in USA got one last week with a 149XX number so seems to suggest a run of approx 15000.

A very unscientific explanation for the 7500 number - perhaps it was placed on a shelf with later arrivals being added to said shelf in front of it - then as they sold the oldest was the last to go?

There are rumours that somebody saw >15.000 number. however i havent seen any evidence yet.

Like ATL Jack, I have also been a lurker here on the forum for a while. I had been eyeing the Speedmaster FOIS and Professional for several months as a complement to my BB58 and Nomos Orion Date. After trying on both Speedmasters at my local AD in October, the FOIS was the clear winner to me with its more balanced proportions, alpha hands, and smaller size. I know people argue that the dial is the same size on both watches, but the FOIS definitely wears smaller – plus the exposed crown makes hand winding a joy. My AD mentioned that the FOIS was being discontinued so I started seriously looking for one. I was lucky to find a new FOIS (No. 14411) with Omega warranty cards from a watch broker I contacted through Chrono24. The kicker was I was able to negotiate what I would consider gray market pricing for a new watch with factory warranty. This watch hasn’t left my wrist since I got it back in late October and in addition to the BB58 and the Nomos, makes an almost perfect three watch collection. I considered waiting for the new Speedy Pro with 3861 movement, but given the recently leaked information for that watch, I’m glad I went with the FOIS, which I think is an excellent value for the money.

Congrats on the purchase and on a fine 3-watch collection. The Orion Date is one of my favourites in the Nomos line and a nice complement to the FOIS and 58.

It was a limited Edition. If they just stopped making it then ~ 15k was the limit.

It just wasn’t very limited 😉

Got mine recently (about 3-4 months ago) and absolutely love it. The size, alpha hands, straight lugs, there isn't one detail about the FOIS that I don't like. Currently wearing mine on a grey Hodinkee leather strap and I can't take it off. I do appreciate that they kept it at a more accessible price point as well - a thing that might change in the future...
