I am not sure why the height is an issue? my FOIS measures 14mm, the same as a standard Speedy Pro.
i can imagine it might look slightly taller due to the midcase design, but it really isnt taller than the normal Hesalite Speedy.
Reading though the thread it has hit me why it looks taller, the FOIS case back is taller which raises the case of the watch off my wrist.

have been considering one of late but really want to try it on before buying, can the standard speedmaster professional's bracelet be swapped for a different bracelet? i dont like how the solid endlinks make the bracelet extend longer

Uncle Seiko and Forestner make after market bracelets for the standard speedy.

Maybe. I’ve owned both and have not noticed a difference in height, really. There is a terrific comparison thread here that would cover such a diff in detail. Maybe the FOIS review by RockMasterMike (IIRC).

Ace Jewelers has also confirmed with a post on their IG page that FOIS has been discontinued.

If anyone is near Oakville Ontario Canada and wants a FOIS I saw one today at the watch store in Oakville Commons mall. Didn’t ask them if they knew if it was discontinued.

Wow I lucked out then, I just picked one up a week and a half ago off the forum. I wonder how prices will go for them now.

I have been undecided over the FOIS and the Moonwatch Hesalite or Sapphire for so long now that it is unreal - cant decide which to buy, that has now been going on so long that the RRP's have gone up during my decision making or lack of, and it looks like all 3 are up to be discontinued - I will try to go pick one up in the next few days before its too late - but still unsure which of the 3 I want...any help would be most appreciated.
There are so many out there the second hand price is bound to fall IMO

FOIS pricing has been slowly inching up. I bought mine 3 years ago for $3500 BNIB from a grey market seller off of Rolexforums. The same person is now selling BNIB for $4500.

True, even second hand off private sellers has gone up in the last 12-18 months.

I remember seeing a few second hand FOIS at under 3k EUR about a year and half ago. And those were not even quick sellers.
Thats when i wanted to pull a trigger on one, but somehow spent money on other watches.. All of a sudden the prices started creeping up slowly, and the longer i waited i realised that the train has left and that the second hand prices were not too far away from retail+discount. So i went to an AD this summer and bought a new one with a fair discount. That was actually my first and only "new watch" purcahse 😀
I honestly dont care if the prices gonna fall (if they do, i will buy another one 😁 😗), but when i look at next best straight lug alternative and recent price development somehow i doubt it.

So I bought a new FOIS - I paid full retail for it the OB wasn't prepared to negotiate given it was discontinued and was their last one - having had it for a few days, I must say I can't believe how good value for money it is (even at full RRP) - classic design, 39.7, straight lugs, I love the sword hands, the detail is outstanding for the price imho - i like it better than some of my other watches costing more than twice the price.

If this thing had a hesalite crystal it would be on my wrist right now...

This FOIS has bumped my Rolex Submariner, Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue, and Omega SMP Diver 300m from my wrist as my new daily...

Why don’t you put a hesalite crystal then?

When I was at the AD on Saturday he showed me their last FOIS and said no more would be available. I wonder what number it was? Have to go back this week to pickup some paperwork so might check just to satisfy my curiosity...

It’ll be interesting to see how this affects price in the next few months.

No ideas what will happen with prices and not much bothered either way, but the FOIS definitely seems to have picked up steam recently, as a watch introduced quite a while back. It would be interesting to see what percentage of the total run were sold over those 8 years, and since, say, 2018 or so. I feel like it's enjoying a renaissance in reputation and possibly sales even as it nears the end of its shelf life.

I absolutely love mine, Never bonded with my Speedy Pro 005, but was smitten by the FOIS from the first time I wore it, and nearly a year on the love affair continues unabated.

The FOIS has always been priced attractively for what it represents : a very nice and faithful copy of a straight lug speedy. Same applies to the 60th anniversary. For a reason difficult to answer, both have been trading below retail price. I believe this nonsense / these times will be soon over, if they are not already.
