Sounds like you need to get a SS EW321.
Waiting for one to try on in real, it's the only way to really be sure.

Sucks to hear. I love my FOIS. It's the perfect sized watch for my wrist. I haven't gotten around to putting on the flat link Forstner bracelet I recently got, but it will probably fit even better on my wrist with that.
I put mine on the Uncle Seiko flat link and it looks great. My personal problem is my wrists, they are quite thin and shallow in comparison to the rest of my arm.

I love the FOIS and I am probably the only person who notices the height issue. It's funny as it does not bother me when I wear my Bremont Wright Flyer and that is a massive lump on the end of my wrist. Perhaps it's because I have convinced myself the Speedy is the best in the world that I am so critical of any perceived flaw.

I am not sure why the height is an issue? my FOIS measures 14mm, the same as a standard Speedy Pro.
i can imagine it might look slightly taller due to the midcase design, but it really isnt taller than the normal Hesalite Speedy.

It is a little taller. The caseback and sapphire crystal add height over the std Moonwatch. There is more relief in the caseback casting/engraving so that is likely the main culprit but its less than a mm difference.

Thats a standard FOIS:

That s Hesalite Speedmaster with swapped Caseback for a Sapphire. As far as i know the standard Speedy caseback measures slightly thicker due to medallion.

My experience is that the Sapphire crystal is infact lower profile than Hesalite, but the caseback on the FOIS is slightly taller. But in total they are roughly the same ~14mm.

Got my FOIS about two years ago too. It's gorgeous. It's proportions are near perfect. Though, I confess, I don't have a Speedy pro for comparison yet.

Though I wouldn't swap out the handset for love nor money there are legibility issues with it for me. But these are solved by gazing at the watch rather than glancing at it.

thanks - thats interesting
question - if they have the same movement, but just different crystals (and hands) etc - why would the FOIS caseback be or need to be taller?

Its due to the caseback design i think. To accommodate deep engraving on the caseback.

The sapphire back is also thicker than the steel version. In my experience the std MW is half a mm thinner than the S Sandwich or FOIS. You aren’t measuring a std watch there as you have added a display back don’t forget.

I am aware, and i have measured the Speedy pro with its original caseback, and if you account the medallion on the back then it was thicker than saphire caseback. Dont forget saphire caseback doesnt have to accomodate the antimagnetic cover.
Unfortunatelly i dont have the standard caseback in order to proof.

I don't currently have a std watch at present either and a Sapphire Sandwich or Ed White reading probably aren't much use for the purposes of this discussion. Maybe someone else could measure the thickness of a bog standard Hesalite MW and let us know. As I say, from memory the last one I checked was 13.5mm but to be fair that was a pre-moon so perhaps the back is thinner on those, there is certainly less engraving on them.

Tim Mosso at watchbox has done videos on the hesalite, SS, and hesalite sandwich. I think the order of thickness is hesalite, SS, and then hesalite sandwich being the thinnest at just under 14mm.

Mine has a vintage Speedy hippocampus caseback and I think is even slimmer than the medallion back for the FOIS...not entirely sure though.

I took a quick look at my watches:
Std MW Ref. 3590.500 is 14.4 mm
FOIS Ref. 311.32.40.30.01.001 is 14.1 mm

What do you mean by special order?
